I have a complete M332 with nice paint that I'd part with for $250. This trailer is nice. I'd keep it, except it is backed into a garage behind like three other trailers and I need to move some stuff out to get to the rest. Part it out or just buy it and keep it intact. NO TITLE...unless you...
With regards to looking unique, it definitely will. With regards to maintaining a somewhat original appearance...I suppose "somewhat" is the key word. If you mean that it would look like a military truck except for the hood, then I suppose it would look "somewhat" original. My question...
Reverse engineering at its finest. The MTVR copy is definitely just that, but at least it looks a little different. The HEMTT clone is almost identical! Pretty pathetic in my opinion.
I should have clarified this in my original post. By "underpowered," I mean that the military never spec'ed their 5 ton trucks out with the most powerful motors known to mankind. They chose motors that could handle the desired loads mainly off-road. Off-road means lower speeds. These trucks...
The tires look cool. I love the XZLs. Also, nice paint job so far. Here's what I can tell you about how it will drive with the 1600s and all of that weight...it is going to be a pig. Wreckers...M62, M543, M816, M936 (the more common variants that collectors tend to own)...are ALL underpowered to...
Is anyone coming back through MD or even to NC near Winslow (Halifax, NC)? I am buying something from EXBROWN and would love to get it couriered north! I am willing to pay. Let me know if you can help.
I recommend you turn the sound down since the music sucks in my opinion...and I am not positive that this video has not been posted previously (although I don't recall seeing it on this site). This video shows what some Russian trucks can do. Other threads have shown Russian logging trucks.
I respectfully disagree. Russian cars have a terrible reputation, but I have never heard anything but great things about their trucks. If anything, I have heard the opposite...that Russian trucks are built so simply that they out perform under tough conditions. Just look at the CTIS on...
Is anyone attending the GA rally who is headed back towards MD (or at least NC near Winslow in Halifax, NC) who could haul something north for me? The item is fairly big...probably a bit larger than a medium towbar and slightly heavier. Please let me know. Thanks!
I realize you said you want to keep it. My suggestion...offer it in a trade for a new vinyl top. That way, someone who wants an insulated arctic top will have what they want and you get a new top. Win-win. I will say this...the best plan is definitely NOT to cut the insulation out.
Welcome aboard. There are a lot of other SteelSoldiers members in FL. I suggest trying to meet up with them to network. STONEPICKER, RECOVRY4X4, PCTRANS, DIRT71...and many, many others (including RAYZER, who just posted). I know I am leaving a lot of guys out, but those are the few that came...
Maybe you could pay DOCFARMALL (Jeff) to recover it. He lives in Rising Sun, IN. Anyway, he could probably go over it after he got it home and give you a good appraisal of the truck. I know he has helped out other members here, although I hate to speak for him. Send him a PM. Good luck.
DODGEMAIN, I love your dump. I wanted it back when Joe Naglich still had it. I wish I could have made you a reasonable offer on it when you offered it for sale.
If an agency can't start a truck, they often bypass it. This truck definitely has had parts removed. Right off the bat, that will scare most agencies away. They want turn-key trucks. Example: a friend was inspecting at Mechanicsburg when an agency was recovering one of the first rebuilt...
I disagree about the HEMTT wrecker repairs. If the motor and transmission are good, that truck will need about $25K in repairs/parts. I did not inspect it so I don't know what all is missing, but I went over the pics with a good friend who has built HEMTTs. He and I came to the same...
