Started today by taking pictures of the truck before the paint job.
Had some serious body work to do on the tailgate. Sanded the dented areas to bare metal and then applied several coats of BONDO to fill in the dents an nicks. Used my DA sander to sand between application of filler. Once...
Yes if you hook it up to either terminal on the jumper wire within the circuit you still get the same voltage result. They did that so you don't have too many wires on the same terminal.
I know on my trucks one of the small wires goes to the 12 Positive terminal of the battery. There is another small wire that goes to the 24 volt positive terminal. I do not remember seeing a 3rd small wire in any of my M939 trucks.
Finally finished the tire mount! I lifted the tire on top of the truck deck and rolled the tire into the tire mount. Once I had it in place I secured the end cap with the T-bolt. I also spliced the power wire for the amber flasher. Looks good up there!
I am guessing vinegar and baking soda do not go together well. I'm not a chemist.
BTW I store all my combustible chemicals in a flammable liquids cabinet.
Today's project was to relocate the convoy light on the truck. It was originally attached to the back of the tire mount that i removed. I unbolted the pole mount bracket from the tire mount. I decided to remount the strobe light since it was not attached very well. I drilled and tapped a...
Weather was cool today so good time to work on the wrecker's tire carrier. I vacuumed up the recessed area and did some touch-up priming and painting on the top of the wall that the tire carrier is going to sit. I lifted the tire carrier on top of the wall and inserted a support leg on the...
Rapco paint cans came in a couple of days ago. Been busy working on the forklift. Took the truck on the interstate today and noticed a death wobble. Well as luck would have it I drove by a truck tire service shop on the way to picking up a used air ride seat i got on Ebay.
So I stopped it...

I added links to the actual AC Delco parts I purchased for my M1008. They fit perfect without any tweaking...
Today I continued the tire rack project. I cut some metal to make 3 legs that will support the tire rack. I drilled and bolted the pieced together using 5/16" bolts. I then primed and painted the metal pieces.
While the primer was drying I cut out the back panel from the rear compartment...
It just shows that the owners of those 2 cars do no appreciate what you did for them. I can feel your pain! I would be proud to have a Zout restore. Would treat it like it was fine crystal. Looking forward to seeing your next masterpiece.
I ordered 1 case of Rapco CARC Green and 1 case of CARC Brown spray paint for the CAMO paint job i plan to do on my truck. I was also able to find a color schematic of the CAMO pattern for the M1008 truck in color. I will get the flat black paint locally since it is all the same and cheaper...
I decided to do a test install of the tire rack. I lifted it into place and attached the end piece to see how it looks.
I decided it did not fit right in that direction. So I had to cut off the small antenna mount that was welded to the side of the bottom angle iron. I sanded the area and...
