Well, finally getting started on this one. Found more rust than I anticipated on the "B" pilliar crossover, but I have two complete cut-off roofs now, so we will see how it comes out. I sure do miss this truck.
If its the same as a GM gas engine, and I presume it is, its as sinmple as pulling the old out and the new one in. Coat it with just a little wheel bearing grease and it will stay up in the hole while you install the pump.
Yes, to both questions. You are supposed to check the physical level first (cold check), just to make sure there is some, then drive it enough (hot check) to reach operating temp, then check it again. The manual has a very specific process, its two pages long, too long for a complete answer here.
Do a search for the pressure protection valve. You will most likely find the answer to your specific problem there. As a new member, please post up in a new thread to introduce yourself.
The key with all oil sampling is trending the vehicle. A single test is really not very useful as a tool. Its important to have a regular oil sampling program, so that trends can be identified. Although its interesting and can show a few catastrophic results, without trending its just neat...
I just picked up a complete L70 replacement kit, including all manuals and a new regulator. I don't play with generators at all, I wanted the engine for another project. If any of these things have value to the generator folks, let me know and maybe I can help out. These were a great deal in...
OK I'm in. Just reserved a cabin, since I will hopefully be in the middle of moving and I don't know what will be here and what will be there in NC, so I went soft and rented a cabin (Smokehouse) just to see what its all about. Can't wait!
First "recovery". Went to 450 miles R/T to pick up a parts truck M1009. Barely knew it was back there. Averaged 12 mpg towing, Tool boxes and flat bed make for a very good recovery vehicle.
Guys had a GREAT time tonite, sure made a lousy business trip alot better. Thanks to ODDBALL007, RAYZER and DODGE MAN for a great welcome to Florida. Oddball that is one nice running truck, Rayzer; the trailer-Holy ***t that is unbelievable. Dodge Man thanks for sharing the info on your Jeep...
I know this is a little old, but we had 1009s all over the place in Florennes BE and all had rear view mirrirs on the windshield. I remember this distinctly because we had a one lane area in out interim WSA which required you to back out after your checks, always used that mirror. Maybe the...
I remember these trucks from my time also in the GLCM program in Florennes Belgium (84-85), Awesome trucks, I remember riding in one on the "confidence course". All I can say is WOW! That being said, if the opportunity to own one ever happened, I would have to, just to be a caretaker in its...
Good luck with the project from a soon-to-be NC neighbor. He may have not understood the "odd" shift pattern? What are your plans for the bed once you remove it?
