Wait a minute. You didn't tighten the shaft in with bolts did you ? It has to "slide" into the splines of the side gear. If you "forced" it in you could have damaged the shaft and gear !
What I have done before is stick the pointy end of a log pry bar into the axle flange hole and pry it up that way. Sometimes those axle shafts can be a real pain in the butt to install. At other times the same axle will slide right in with no trouble at all !
That's why most mechanics think of...
Something like a "double row" of bearings ? I suppose it could be done, but the chances of them "cocking" in the bore would be something you would have to address. Since they are not held in a cage and can move around a bit that could happen.
Here you go.

I bought some two weeks ago. I had bought some last year but cannot find them ! Oh well, you can never have enough parts!
Not right now, but it will soon. I came up with a pretty good system I believe and the machine shop just finished the last parts for me. So we will see.
Thanks Gerhard. By the way, do you know where I can buy the "loose cylindrical bearings" for the input gear at ? I've found some suppliers that have the diameter (0.312" ) but not the length ( 0.620" ) .
Thanks.
Hey Tom.
You took your website down so fast I was unable to download the instructions for the second gear modification. Can you or someone else post that picture ?
Thanks.
Your method works fine ! I just wanted to use that front space for a fuel tank. I think I should have around a 120 gallon tank there when all is said and done. Then the MEP generator mounted on top on the left side. Then the fuel transfer pump on the right side.
I'm mounting my S250 shelter into my M105 trailer so it can be used as "tool storage" for when I go on my "Great Adventure" .
It needed to be strong enough to hold the weight of the shelter and all the tools securely to the trailer frame.
So far I have the metal flat bar (1/2" X 1-1/2"...
Talked with Tom today. Yep their all gone ! He told me he lost over $100.00 on each kit he sold. Now if anyone wants to make up more kits they will cost well over $2000.00 each ! Minimum order at the gear shop was 30 units. That is going to be hard to come up with that kind of money and then try...
Depends how hard your applying the brakes. I have a pressure gauge on my truck, and when I really push them it can go to 1600 PSI. Normal application goes to about 800 PSI .
Rats ! I was hoping to buy one more for me ! I should have keep my mouth shut until I had bought both of them.
It is sad too. This is a great kit and even if you could have a friendly machine shop do the work it would cost way over what he was selling them for. I did warn you guys though. I...
