You've never seen injector lines squirt out before ? I've seen guys get injected and have to go to the hospital due to playing with injector lines improperly. There is a proper way to do it, and it works real well to detect a faulty cylinder. The problem here is trying to describe the procedure...
What's worse is when they tell you to get out of the landing craft and wade the rest of the way in carrying your gear over your head ! Now that your completely soaked in salt water you have to hump a few miles to your correct LZ zone ! That pisses you off real fast ! Oh to be young and dumb and...
This is just a general shout out to all here. Does anyone know who has a Spicer 3053 second gear for sell ? Preferably a NOS one ? I tried all the major venders. Boyce has some but wants over $200.00 ! OUCH ! There has to be someone here who has squirreled away a few to sell.
Thanks guys.
Your a lucky man to find a woman who likes playing in a Deuce. You might want to consider making it a permanent relationship. I don't think my wife would get in the Deuce even if it meant saving her life ! Seriously ! It does kinda suck to have such a large portion of my life I cannot enjoy with...
Basically that is what I have. The water trap/filter is the first filter, just like the military had. Then the final two (Primary & Secondary) are after the booster pump again just like the military had. Yes it is easier to push fuel (that is why the military put the pump in the tank) especially...
At idle you will not hurt anything. Since you had a stuck fuel lever you might just have gummed up injectors too. Before you panic and tear into the engine, go ahead and pop test all the injectors. If they are all OK, then you can start to panic ! (just kidding, don't panic) . There are things...
At work we did this many times. Especially if an engine had been rebuilt within a couple of years. I would go ahead and pull the piston now so you know what style you will need. I also would go ahead and replace all the rod bolts with the newer 12 point style.
The problem with that is you can get "algae" build-up in your filters. Especially up here in the Northwest. Regular filter replacement will prevent that. The manufactures can build filters that would never need changing. In fact I personally knew the guy that invented the "overson screen filter"...
That's why I always close the fuel tank cap valve when playing in the woods. In fact I pretty much keep it closed all the time since I installed my fording system.
If you had stayed in the water track you probably would have made it. I know back-seat driver and all that. In the Marine Corps they used to take us down to water holes just like that to perfect our driving skills. Keeping a steady forward motion even in water will get you out of a lot of...
First gear has no synchro. It slides on the main shaft from first to reverse. You must be totally stopped to get it into first gear without grinding. Same for reverse.
I talked with Tom again and no one has ordered any kits since mine. You guys do realize once he retires there will never be any more right ?
I'm buying one more just to have on hand. I don't want to be the guy a few years from now that says "boy I wished I had bought one of those kits, now it's...
Yep. It's still an older NOS unit, your just paying more for it. Do what Toby said and buy one and then take it all apart and check and lube it. It can have rust inside. That's the problem with NOS items. They could have been setting in a damp old warehouse for decades and now have internal...
