Mdmorgan considering that your engine is tore down this far and the problem you had with the cam I would think about doing a complete teardown just to check out all the rest it won't take that much more time and will give you piece of mind later.
The reason for the 1" setup is probably because of the strength of the Manila rope and a that you can pull on a 1" better than a smaller rope. So a few guys can pull a couple thousand pounds with the confidence of the big rope. And I use my 1" pulleys with smaller rope all the time.
Just hit the mother load of rope my cousin has two spools of 5/8 or 3/4 and one of 1&1/8 and some 2" will be looking at what he wants to sell next day or so.
Well if I was doing civilian trucks that might be true but the reason for using the wiffletree is I move military trucks by the shackles which are always the same unlike chains you are using I am looking at adding the swivel but don't think it is really needed.
I had this same problem and had to reload tap talk to get it to work but like you said worked before whatever was done during the rally. As to the 936 guys I am sorry to hear that motor is giving you more trouble. I like the pony motor idea maybe behind the passenger side fuel tank? Wonder...
Ron if you will look at the two middle pictures I know they are small but my setup will work just like those with only one exception if one truck twist along the plane of the tow and the other doesn't think of the plane that a fifth wheel doesn't pivot except the military ones when unlocked.
Yeah forgot about the twist but as there isn't much I think the frame and rear suspension will soak up the majority of it as this will be for on road towing and load out of trucks.
Okay so I missed the part about a single leg towbar sorry. Now that I have a better understanding of the tow I would say it can still be done but why not run 2 large chains tightly from the shackles of the towed truck to the center bar or the center rear of the Tatra making it a a-frame type pull.
How's about this added to the wiffletree? Then just use two of the towbar legs that don't have the lunette, and remove the bumpers and hook to the shackle mounts with towbar feet.
Are you going to be using a US MILITARY towbar or something else? If you use a US medium duty towbar and safety chains you should be okay I have pulled wreckers this way just go slow and easy and understand that if you turn to fast the rear truck can and will turn the tatra sideways.
Maybe a diaphragm, I had one go out on my wrecker on the way home today. But you need to trouble shoot the system, as what one truck sounds like doesn't mean that's what is wrong with yours. If you would like more help most of these guys will be more responsive if you have read the -10 and...
