My recommendation is to do some homework by watching the sales. Since time is of the essence...it ALWAYS is...I would recommend that you price out a similar truck retail. Once you know what they should sell for, figure out what you feel would be a good price at auction. Then, compare that to...
Rather than modifying your CUCVs, perhaps, it makes more sense to buy another vehicle that will do what you want. Basically, you are taking a square peg and cutting off the edges to fit into a round hole. There is nothing wrong with swapping in a better motor or transmission, or adding an...
It was never delivered from the factory to the military as a dually. GM made a dually variant, but the military did not order any. Instead, ALL of the duallies were purposely converted, most using a military kit (I have seen a few that utilized some civilian components to convert a truck to a...
I agree with the others who said that their trucks started with the glow plugs only. While it generally does not get that cold in MD, it was in the 20s for several days in a row recently. My truck started without any hesitation. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly it started...like a...
My recommendation is not to try to start your trucks when it is that cold unless you have to do so. Why put the strain on the truck? Strange things happen when it is really cold out. Things fail that would otherwise be fine.
I have found auction listings with NSNs that DID NOT match the item. I have also found NSNs that are just plain wrong. Most times they match the item, but not always. Be careful.
Beautiful animal, 91W350! My family has had German Shepherds for the last 40 years and I could not even think of another dog to own...no offense to anyone else...but GSD's are incredible. As I said, I own two and will eventually get another.
91W350: Beautiful GSD! I have two myself, and I want to get another shortly. If not for the fact that my older male is very territorial, I would already have a second male! Also, nice looking truck...but a better looking dog! No offense intended!
MKCOEN: I would tell David Doyle this to his face...and he is a GOOD friend of mine...those prices are WRONG! Go find ANY HEMTT in ANY condition for $3K and I might buy it! The axles and cab are worth that, let alone any motor or transmission or other good body parts.
STALWART, you know when you will sell it? When I sell my M983 tractor that has a zero mile motor and will have a rebuilt tranny in it, and you can use that truck to haul your Stalwart around! Seriously though, I am not sure I will sell my HEMTT any time soon. I say that, but I know I...
I baby my trucks because I want to keep them, not see what they can do. For that reason, I max out at 70 mph in an M1009 and 60 mph in an M1008/M1028 (although 65 and 55 respectively are about what I run them). They will definitely go faster.
You know why many people want CUCVs? Because they are military and they can be driven daily. At least that is what drew me to them. When I first got into the hobby, I had a certain dislike for CUCVs because, really, they are nothing more than civilian vehicles painted in military colors (with...
What kind of HEMTT are you after? That might affect the price. I have seen serious projects go as cheaply as $20K and cherry trucks go upwards of $100K. I know where a wrecker is right now...but the guy wants a rediculous $250K!!! Plan on spending $50K or more for a running and driving...
Bjorn, I hate to say it, but that little in-line filter is actually correct! I thought the same thing when I got my first A2. I figured someone must have installed an additional filter for some reason, but it is correct. On the positive side, they are easy to replace and they are inexpensive...
