I would also go with the busted diaphragm theory. Also you could have had some little bugs get in there and build a nest like say Wasps ! Had that happen before.
Just take apart the horn and see.
Are you sure it is adjusted properly ? There should be 1.5" to 2" clutch "Freeplay" on the pedal. If it doesn't have that then it is adjusted wrong. As far as the transmission front oil slinger goes. If you over-fill the transmission it can "fling" out the gear oil onto the clutch. You would...
Well we thought it was. I was working at IHC trucks in Seattle back in the 1970's. A garbage truck got towed in one day having broken down on the freeway. We didn't know it but it was full of garbage ! We could smell it later !
We had to jack up the front end to replace the brakes that had...
When I was still a young apprentice, this older mechanic came up to inspect my work. He noticed I had reused the old shoes. I explained that after cleaning them up they where in perfect condition. He told me "so you think their OK ? Well lets see" . He then got the small propane torch out and...
Having personally seen hydraulic jacks fail I always use "jack-stands" that are firmly planted. I have also seen jack-stands fail too ! To much weight on a too small jack stand. It shredded the holding "Teeth" like ripping corn off the cobb.
Replace all the shoes ! Even though there is no wear they absorbed the grease. When you go to stop with one side new and one side with grease in it guess what happens ! The heat releases the grease (oil) and causes the same problem you had. Replace both sides.

Good old "Bendix" (Carl Weiss) universal joint axles. According to some axle experts they are considered the best axle joint ever made. I do know for a fact that several racing companies that make parts for the Rockwell axle sell a "Bendix" axle for several thousand dollars ! It is considered...
They are used to lift the trucks onto ships. Since the Marines like to load all their equipment on their trucks the standard shackles could not take the load. I was told this when loading up the "USS Spartenburg County" for War Games.
I bought one when they first came out just to see what it could do. Afterwards I went back and bought another one ! They are a good quality tool and I don't see why they cannot last years in a hard working environment like a tire shop. Just before I retired from the transit agency there where...
I didn't know you where referring to "DuraBak" . That stuff is awful ! Used it years ago and after only six months it started to come off in chunks ! I was referring to "Herculliner" and "MonsterLiner" myself. I've had great luck with both products. I've also had "RhinoLiner" sprayed in the bed...
"Line X" is assume stuff to be sure, but if you prep the body correctly the paint on liners can also work fine. First off you need the correct primer, but before you prime it you need to get all the rust and crud off. Then after priming you need to scuff it up to allow the liner to bound to it...
