I think M35A3s are supposed to be included in the deuce forum. There is no separate forum for M939 series trucks or M809 series trucks. They are all included under 5 ton and up.
Another option...take your truck to Allison and have them fabricate one for you. They fabricated a filler tube for me since the M939A2 transmissions have a different filler tube than the other M939 series trucks. Parts availability is what makes an M939A2 a b**** and it seems as if it is the...
HNDRSONJ makes a very good point...adding it later does have the benefit of not having to pay now. However, also factor in your time. It will take a full day to install a winch or a weekend if you are not really pressing to get it done. It would depend for me on the truck. I never buy a...
Contact MADDAWG308 in VA. He has one for sale. I bet he'd bring it to Aberdeen and, if you are not coming, I would bet you can find someone who will haul it back to NY for you.
SILVERSTATE55, thank you for your post. While there are a lot of guys on this list with a lot of knowledge about these trucks, it is great to hear from someone with military experience who actually used these vehicles in service. There are others on here, too, who have served and there are...
I believe the military did testing in the 50s and found that the singles performed better off-road. For whatever reasons, they stuck with the duals for the most part for the next 30 years. I have not read the report, although I believe David Doyle has a copy. I have been told that this is one of...
Adding larger tires will definitely kill any power that you have now. These trucks were designed to spend their lives offroad. As such, the designers assumed the trucks would be driven through rough terrain at slow speeds (less than 30 mph). If you look at their intended purpose, they have...
I'd recommend something like a diesel-powered Suburban. You should be able to find something from the mid-90s for a reasonable price. This would offer you comfort, ruggedness, and room for storage. Good A/C and heat are a plus. Install a stout roof rack and away you go.
Be aware that parts can and do disappear from trucks after you bid! Do a search on this site for all the guys who have had parts stolen or their trucks damaged while still on GL soil. Dudley (ATANKERSDAD) is probably the most recent person with parts stolen from his trucks. He had a light...
Longest trip I made in an M35A2 was 18 hours. It was really fun...until about five hours in. I would do it again, but only if absolutely necessary to get my truck some where. Otherwise, about five hours is the furthest I'd go just for the heck of it.
It was not a speeding ticket and it was not in a deuce, but some idiot I used to know got a ticket for driving an M1009 around town without tags or insurance. He tried to tell the MD State Trooper that he was on active duty. When asked why he was with his wife in civilian attire coming out of...
