OK... I admit it... that first step in the M925A1 is a Bit%$ .. what have others done

How about some heavy chain with a 1/2" bolt through it with a pipe over the bolt as a spacer then another heavy chain and then a nut. So you would see front to back: 1/2" hex bolt head, heavy chain link, 1/2" or 5/8" ID pipe, heavy chain link, 1/2" lock nut. {}...

M820 RV build / M4 Van body Build

I don't think there is going to be any update anytime soon. The truck was in pieces last time anything was done to it. Since then the owner and fabricators have had a falling out. The owner is in Alaska relocating his family and i have not heard from him in more than a month. I personally...

OK... I admit it... that first step in the M925A1 is a Bit%$ .. what have others done

I have seen an RV bus that had a motorized step that came out when the driver opened the door. I am sure they are available for purchase if you have the deep pockets for the cost involved. I know this is extreme but it is an option.

    M816 hot rodding ?

:doghead: doghead you're so funny! I can see your frustration. I hope he doesn't kill anyone with that truck! I noticed he never mentioned anything about stopping that beast (36,000 lbs going 55 mph plus!)

Want to put A/C in a M925A1... anyone got pictures of their install?

Here is a spare slot on the flywheel of the water pump that you can run a belt for the compressor with. I got to look to see, but I think there is enough room under the power steering reservoir for the compressor.

My back was killing me from the first 3 bolts! Only one of them was new and came out with normal effort. The ones on the driver's side would not even brake open with a 3/4" ratchet. Had to cut them off with the angle grinder.

Actually the chain is not as low as it looks. It was taken down angle in picture #1 of that post. If you look at picture #2 it is still high. It makes a great bumper step! At least I know it will not buckle under my weight if I step on it! I am not planning to take this truck on any trails...

goldneagle's M923 recovery and modification thread

This morning I grabbed the tow chain from where I had left it to dry. Put the chain in a plastic bucket and used the hand-truck to carry it to the front of the M923. I laid a 4' by 4' piece of plywood over the stones in the driveway in front of the truck. I removed the driver side shackle and...

Just found a problem and a solution... for the horn malfunction on anM925A1

Mine had a loose screw that the ground wire was supposed to be attached to at the bottom of the column inside the cab. Had to install a larger diameter screw to get it to hold tight.

Warm weather recovery of M923 from Fort Polk

I am so glad I was not the only one that had that thought coming back from Ft. Polk recoveries with my M820A2 and the M923. It's nice to know I am not alone. Stop by and visit. We can compare notes on the trucks. GE

Here are the parts I picked up at Jeff's place Thursday: As i was setting up to install the shackle bases on the bottom of the bumper I got the package with the LED turn signals I ordered. I bought them for less than $30 each. They do not include the housings. Had to take the metal cover...

goldneagle's M923 recovery and modification thread

OK on the 5 ton truck the 3rd bolt that holds the shackle vase in place goes all the way through the bottom frame as well and gets terminated with a nut. There is a steel tubing that acts as a spacer inside the frame to keep the bolt from crushing that section if you tighten it too much. The...

goldneagle's M923 recovery and modification thread

I called Jeff Davis last night and made arrangements for me to go up to his place today to pick up some additional parts for my projects. When I got there today he was not there due to a medical emergency. Thanks to Jeff's trust and cooperation I managed to get the parts I needed and take them...
