The problem with the M172s/M172A1s is that they are overwidth. I've owned one in the past and they are good trailers, though. Looks like that trailer might need a deck...which is not too expensive, but is a lot of work. The trailer does have all of the wheel well covers and the ramps, which...
Hi,
I have a friend who is trying to get his M929 dump inspected in the State of Massachusetts. The DMV cop doing the inspecting insists that he cannot rely on any VIN # that can be removed (i.e., the VIN # data plate). Is the VIN # located elsewhere on the truck, for example on the left...
Sarge: I wonder why you say that the MAN truck can go where a HEMTT fears to tread? I've never driven a MAN, but I have put quite a few miles on a HEMTT...although almost all of them have been on roads. I have spoken to guys in the military and everyone of them can't say enough good things...
I find it interesting that the data plate says that the HIAB crane is ONLY to be installed on an M35A2C and both Ethan's and Bjorn's were found on a different type of truck! Way to follow the rulebook... I suppose you guys might not have found them, though, if they had been installed on the...
The only negative thing I can think of with regard to leaving the tanks open is that an insect (e.g., wasp) can make a nest in the petcock. I've had plenty of wasps make mud nests that harden like a rock. Dave, I actually never thought of condensation build up when the truck was not running.
If I come across any more, I'll let everyone know. I doubt I will, however, as all five were on my now-departed M936A2. I'm not sure why they needed five...
I suppose the whiffle trees are just like anything else. The year before, I could not give them away. For that reason, I thought long and hard about even bringing them (they are heavy!). I decided to bring them this past year and probably lowered my price from the previous year. Yes, I...
RE: Re: RE: Can anyone help me with the history of my 1966 M
This is very cool. I've had trucks that I suspected had been to the Gulf for the first war and others that I believe to have been there (inverted Vs on doors). However, I have never had this much info on prior deployments...
They are about the same, although the hard top is a bit more quiet and does insulate the cab better. It really comes down to personal preference. I, too, like to take the soft tops off of my trucks. However, it does not happen often...ESPECIALLY in the summer. The time for a soft top is the...
The other thing to point out is that a HEMTT does not sit very high off of the ground (not ground clearance...but the actual height of the truck). The roof is below the height of an M939 series truck, for instance. Maybe, someone could check the specs if they have the manuals handy.
Is this truck needed for a customer (i.e., resale) or for personal use? That would dictate whether I might be able to find you a truck. In other words, if you hope to add $10K to the cost and make some profit, I doubt I can help. If you want to pay retail, albeit at a good price, I might be...
That is a heck of a deal. I know the truck since I owned it previously...it is a really strong runner. I would have thought you could get almost what you are asking for the tractor alone. I'll spread the word, Kenny!
If anyone is interested, I have a brand new tan vinyl top for a 4-man HMMWV, as well as the complete cargo cover (including all of the framework), for sale. It is all brand new in the boxes. I also have a 10K winch with remote for a HMMWV. I'd take $500 for the vinyl and framework and $800...
The easiest way to tell is by the tail lights. The Dodge bodies have the older style round lights and the Chevy bodies have the more square lights. CUCVFAN has additional descriptive info to help ID the two different bodies...
I am going to guess that it does not have the welder/generator because it is not a true M1031...it does not have the correct t-case to be an M1031. Also, it has the Dodge contact maintenance body off of an M880 series truck.
Nice truck...good luck...and I agree with Chris S...don't give them...
