    Clutch Disk center loose

With the hub moving that much your clutch will "chatter" when engaged, and possibly cause damage. The purpose of those springs is to help absorb the initial shock of apply. If the springs are weak or loose they can potentially come out of the hub under engagement. Not good for the clutch...

    Fort Drum GL Chaos

The people at Fort Lewis are extremely "anal" about all the numbers. I bought a MEP-002a a few years ago and when the employee was verifying the numbers he found it was the wrong unit. So he got the site manager. The site manager went all over the placed until he found the correct unit. After...

    A3 4x4

There are several safe ways to shorten and lengthen the deuce frame. I cannot follow your train of thought here though so I don't know what your trying to do. Since the deuce frame is not "hardened" like the 5 ton is, it is pretty straight forward to chop away at.

    Clutch Disk center loose

There should be no movement with the center hub. If there is then the springs are bad or something else has come loose. Either way it is not good.

Had a Buyer for my Deuce...Then..NO GO!!

Unless your the "Jolly Green Giant" you will not need "jack-stands" to remove the air-pack. You will have plenty of room even using a creeper.

How do you change PTO boots?

Yes, but you must be extremely careful or you will tear them.

    Whistler Turbo Equivalent Parts

Sadly no. After Borg Warner bought them out they stopped making the "D" turbo. There are still rebuild kits available though. I bought a rebuild kit 3 months ago for my "C" turbo but the impeller had come into contact with the side of the housing. So I tore down my "D" turbo and last month...

HVAC AC refrigerant recharge maintenance guidance needed

Oh and "reasonably priced" and "A/C guy" can't be used in the same sentence. OK, that would be funny if it wasn't so true !

    Deuce moves 240,000 lb load

Well since the deuce engine must be running and the transmission working to get the winch to work, then by your own reasoning ( ie using the drivetrain ) it was the deuce that moved it. Just stating the obvious.

HVAC AC refrigerant recharge maintenance guidance needed

As a Federal certified HVAC tech I can honestly say read up any and all literature on your system and A/C in general before you attempt this. You can blow up your compressor if you mess up here. NDT gave some good generic advice but every system is different and the amount of and type of...

    Deuce moves 240,000 lb load

Don't move it. I always enjoy reading how people use the deuce in "real life" situations. Just because someone wants to get all weird about it means nothing. The truck did the work no matter how you look at it. Ever since my classes in the Marines on rigging and vehicle retrieval I have enjoyed...

No. It was off a Deuce.

    Air pack rebuilding question

That spring allows the piston to return to the brake "off" position. Also this small hole at the top of the piston bore needs to be open to allow the piston to return properly. With it plugged it creates a vacuum on the piston which will hold it in the apply position.

I was actually referring to his contact in Florida, but thanks Chris.

    Rebuilding the Injection pump

For those who want to try and adjust the "Fuel Density Compensator" themselves, here are the specifications for the LDS pump.

    Rebuilding the Injection pump

Picture one shows the hub installed (torque nut to 45-55 ft-Ibs ) . Now install the drive gear pictures 2-5 . Make sure the gear spins freely on the hub. This will allow you to adjust the gear during installation of pump onto engine. Torque nuts to 20-25 ft-Ibs . The last picture shows the...

    Rebuilding the Injection pump

No. That was the old major rebuild kit which is no longer available. You must buy the parts individually, but the gaskets still come in a kit. Again call "Melody Feaster" at 1-800-628-6894 . She has all the new part numbers and really knows this pump well.

New to Steel Soldiers, M109 Camper

I love your collection ! Don't let the "jack booted thugs" push you around. They told me years ago to clean out my place and I said I would sue them if they tried. They never came back. Unless you live in a area that has a designated covenant prohibiting the trucks then make them show you the...
