M35a2 intermittent power loss at speed

    The hose is a 1/2" .

M35a2 intermittent power loss at speed

That's true, but if the hose or screen is bad or full of crud you will not get any fuel. As far as fuel lines "collapsing" that is pretty hard when they are under pressure, and any fuel leak at 35 PSI (minimum pressure) would be obvious.

    Help identify this genset

The engine looks like a "VMMotori" made by FIAT with a HR488 OHV 2.0L engine. Chrysler had part ownership of this company and then GM until 2007. They are fully owned by FIAT now. The generator looks like the German VMTECH company made it.

Why Ya Gotta Be So Mean?

Any mod that makes it harder to work on your truck is not a good mod in my opinion. I like to make things easier not harder to work on. Now if it added structural strength to a weak area that would be fine, but since there is no weak area there it's just silly. Now that is just my opinion and...

MRAP tire and wheel with inner tube

Agreed ! If you ever experience a flat out on the road, a simple truck tire repair kit will work with a "tubeless" tire ( though a drill will help a lot ! ) . No need to even take off the tire. Busting down a tire on the side of the road is not fun or safe ! Even replacing a tire that big is a...

    Pilot bushing data

Actually the $18.50 "Eriks" is charging is a fare price. I looked up "oil impregnated" bushings and they cost about the same price. The problem is almost no one sells a 1" X 3/4" oiled bushing. Just get the correct one.

M35a2 intermittent power loss at speed

You say you replace both fuel filters correct ? But did you replace the water/fuel filter on the right side under the alternator ? This sounds like a "classic" filter problem is why I ask. Injectors don't magically get better then worse then better, nor does the injection pump. If their going...

Answer to the age old question-m35a2

Yes the vulnerable spots ! That is what started me on replacing all the lines with stainless steel PTFE hoses. I replaced the one that goes under the radiator first. Then since that went so will I replaced the one that went to the filters then it just kept going until they all where replaced ...

Passing power with the 4L80E or lack of

The "Diesel Purge" is a very similar product to the "Cummins" product I've used. We plumbed it straight into the injection pump like they do. Also the "Standadyne" stuff looks good too.

Answer to the age old question-m35a2

Or you could have went with the stainless steel PTFE hose and never had to worry about the hose again period. I found the main problem with copper tube is it work hardens due to vibration. I don't know about your truck but mine likes to vibrate. That's one of the reasons the military put hose...

    Generator wet stacking discussion

Farm tractors and over the road trucks all have throttles. When their idling, the throttle is barely open unlike a fixed RPM machine like a generator which is set to run at the desired RPM (like 900 RPM or 1800 RPM or 3600 RPM) . It's the "fixed" throttle position and the maintained RPM level...

Passing power with the 4L80E or lack of

There was one the Transit Dept used but I cannot remember the name. It came from Cummins. The stuff was "extremely" toxic and you had to take several safety precautions ! Beyond that stuff I don't know of any that really cleans a dirty injector enough to warrant the price.

    Generator wet stacking discussion

Actually closing off the radiator to outside air flow is not really redneck engineering. Manufacturers have installed "louvered" radiator fronts for over 70 years. My old 1941 IHC had one. So it just depends on the weather conditions. You cannot expect a truck running up to the oil fields in...

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

I did not mean to say there was nothing on the outside of the turbo, just that there would not be the huge valve hanging off the side. Of course there would be the air solenoid and hose and mounting bracket. I said this because of confusion from other members about where was the wastegate.

Here some more information on the GT37 series Turbo. http://www.trucktrend.com/news/1402-fare-thee-well-single-sequential-turbo-inside-perspective/ And here.

    Generator wet stacking discussion

Your correct. Wet stacking can happen in hours if the unit is over fueled. Remember wet stacking is not about the heat of the engine, but the heat in the chamber. Which only happens under load. So it's all about the load and unburned fuel. It's the unburned fuel which causes all the problems...

Distance from back of cab to front of bed

I have a ton of his diagrams also but not all. I keep telling Gerhard to make a large post with "all" his diagrams. I'm serious ! They are a tremendous asset to our community and should be saved.

    Brake light switch upgrade Deuce

Don't worry about it. I've posted on rebuilds and other projects and only a handful of people will "like" it. Then you'll post on some piddly little thing and get hundreds of likes ! People only like it when they are working on the same or similar project.

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

I should have been more specific about the GT-37 series turbo. That is the base model and there are about 100 variations built on this platform. If I remember right the one for the powerstroke was the GT-3776 but don't quote me since I didn't have a pen and paper to take notes with. Almost all...

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

I figured I would post this information about the 7.3 PowerStroke before all the "fault finders" jumped on the bandwagon. As you can see it is very close to our LDT465 engine as far as the peak HP (at 2800 RPM compared to 2600 RPM) and peak torque (at 1600 RPM compared to 1400 RPM) ranges are...
