The "Tape Test" works really well for adhesion testing... Blue painters tape shouldn't pull anything (paint) even if you burnish the tape to the painted surface in 24 hours. After a few days, full tilt 2 inch masking tape shouldn't pull paint - especially in full sun.
Adhesion Promoter...

Ahh... We were looking for the Snow Cat manuals for somebody here recently. EM-0112 is what we were looking for and it isn't classed for release to the general public. Your subject line is the Hagglund. Similar but different. Sorry for the confusion on my part.
The American black metal...

I know NOTHING about it, but you mentioned solenoids... What about a can or two of spray electrical contact cleaner? There is a Anti-Ox spray cleaner too that seems to help a lot of relays in big green trucks. Might be worth a try.
Also, if you happen to have any sort of black metal...

I suggest a 3# hammer. Tension the puller, then hit it. Don't try to kill it, but give it a good thump. If that doesn't work, spray with your favorite penetrating oil while the puller still has the wheel under tension. Spray it every day for several days and snug the puller a little more...

Transmission overheating is why - according to the information shared with me.
Logically, what you mentioned would be the same - and if so - it seems that when a slushbox gets hot it gets unhappy no matter what it is doing.

The reason for setting the speed to 1700 rpm is to keep you from "smoking your Allison" transmission.
Nothing to do with hydraulic pump speed and resulting speed.
Just creep the handles if you want to move slowly.
The older wreckers with manual transmissions will operate at idle all day...

But we can dream about having one.
Maybe just the ability to sit inside of a cute little tank...
It was pretty outstanding just having a very old M60 at Freedom Park in Charlotte, North Carolina. Hatches were welded shut and kids climbed all over it. There was a NCANG F86 Sabre Jet, a coal...

When I got my first LMTV, and before I started reading the TM's, I didn't know about the air bags on the cab. That is the only air bags I know about on these trucks. Short explanation is that it raises the back of the cab roughly 3 inches. Greatly improves the ride for the occupant. It...

Maybe some of the real Mobile Electric Power guys can chime in, but just converting from 24v to 12v is gonna cost you some serious money. The starter motors for example aren't cheap. I don't know the amp draw on the start motors either, but everything doubles when you go from 24v to 12v as...

If you do decide to try this truck, squirting Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO) into holes where spark plugs or more likely injectors are for a week or so would be a good thing. I don't believe I would give any thought to trying to crank the truck after sitting that long. Squirting MMO on top of the...

Buy two at auction. One for the doors and top, then use the other for the other parts that weren't in a crash of some sort. Kinda sucks, but there won't be a new found stash of doors back in a corner somewhere. If that happens, somebody will be going to Leavenworth.
.
Well... Part of the magic is since you own it - and chances are that you don't currently own a helicopter or a crane - you could remove those corner hooks and re-frame the corners. Square could work.
What if you got aluminum?
Maybe that would bend a little easier?

Make sure that you have street tread.
They might get all excited if you were driving around on steel track.
Oh, and be sure to check the weight plates at the bridges!
