    Ex-Military 'Anteater' tracked crane

. Nice! Really nice since and so cool that you guys will get The Thing into a shop somewhere and make her purty again. Maybe post a link to the Firelands Military Vehicle Group?

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

. In a perfect world everything gets put back exactly like it was. We all know that. But life happens... I guess I wuz a MoRon and didn't think about the crank still being held in place - during an in-frame rebuild. Like a big dummy, I saw a main cap. Then I saw the same picture oriented like...

VIN verification and the titling saga...

. Dang... That's nice. Would have been easy for her to just keep walking and leave you standing there. A little bit of real customer service. Maybe even going above and beyond. I mean the entire experience has been a ROYAL PAIN, but at least that small thing gives the rest of us hope...

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

. I don't think - just my opinion - that replacing half or only the "upper" and "lower" on one journal isn't going to be any better than getting half of a bearing set installed wrong. You should be able to bolt the main back in place, then look - maybe even with a mirror to see the wear...

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

. Agreed! Magnifying glass... You should be able to match the wear pattern. Put it together, look, then try it the other way. With some magnification you should be able to figure out proper orientation.

    CHUCKY'S TREE HOUSE !

. Yeah. If the need ever arises it would be a really nice "feature". I know I wouldn't leave anything that I own mounted up there to be exposed to the rain and weather. Without a full armor package to keep from getting your asprin blown off - why have a turret top? I know from experience...

. Yes Sir! And quite often - when that stuff happens - there are bite marks on the seat!

    M998 Squeaky Body Bushings

. If you have rattles or squeeks, go after it with some silicone spray or even WD40. Just remember. Spray something small and go for a ride. If you spray everything in site sight, you won't know where the squeak really is - that needs to be fixed properly.

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

. IMO, you need need to carefully inspect that crank journal. Does it have a scratch or scuff mark that is chewing into that bearing? Or, maybe more specific two spots? Possible that it has already been scuffed off by the bearing... Plasti should read the scuff if you can find it. Funny how...

    Hot in Arizona

. I have to agree with the previous posts about speed and a big military truck. Going fast just isn't what it was made for. Don't know if you have ever overtaken a military convoy on the interstate or not... I have always noticed them running in the right lane somewhere between 45 and 50...

    M1165

. Yes sir and cleaning that block should help you even if it looks good by eye. Those gremlins are dang difficult to beat down... The HMMWV isn't really like other trucks where the frame is the ground. Wires feeding the tail lights (plastic buckets) for example have a ground wire in the loom...

    M998 Squeaky Body Bushings

. I am guessing that you are buying NOS cab bushings? Maybe not stored in a climate controlled environment? There are several folks here using 3D Printers to create new bushings for the LMTV. They appear to be about the size of a HMMWV bushing... I personally have zero experience with...

    M1165

. Nobody wants to do it, but a weekend spent with several brass tooth brushes and a tube of Anti-Oxidation paste will solve a lot of electrical gremlins. start at the batteries. Clean them up, apply AntiOx and then disconnect everything wire by wire (one at the time), clean them, apply...

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

. It doesn't look new. More like a factory defect. Doesn't look bad to me - unless you wanted to "go new" while you are down that far into the rebuild.

    Abrams wet dream...

. I can imagine at a half mile a gallon - it would be like in the teenager years - take up a collection for gas from your pals without cars...

    M1165

. That's a heck of an idea! Maybe even replace the screw that holds it in place with a little knob... Drop both pieces in your pocket and you have a cheap anti-theft device for sure. Just need to be sure that you have a spare knob hidden away somewhere in the truck.

    My new project (M1009)

. Well, I can imagine a balancer showing wiggle. After all, it is rubber supporting a ring of metal. Shouldn't be but it could happen. With a FluDamper that shouldn't he happening though. If you can set it up, a dial indicator on the crank should tell the story. Can't really imagine how...

    My new project (M1009)

. Wow! It's amazing what some paint over all the fixes will do... SHARP looking truck!

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

. I have to agree with the idea of having three of me sometimes. One could go out in the yard and dig up that leaking pipe. The other could get out the weed sprayer and walk around doing that job - and the third (the real me) could go out in a big green truck for a joy ride. And if I had a...
