Well today was our first "snow" of the year. We got 3" here and everything shut-down ! So after doing my outside chores I went in and decided to clean up the shop and my work bench. After that I saw two of my injection pumps laying there (the other ones are in my container) . One was a LDS and...
All vehicles do this in winter. At work we had to go around the busses and check for coolant leaks before the buses went out in the morning. We would tighten up any loose clamps before the engines got warmed up and the leaks would stop. If you actually "torque" the hose clamps (yes they do have...
As far as the studs go, remember these are 40 year old (plus) studs. They should all be replaced as a matter of course. Now should you buy the "ARP" studs ? That I feel is a personal decision as to what you want your truck to be able to do. If your going to try and "up" the injection pump for...

Surprised you forgot this as you posted there after I posted my findings.
That is the life of a Deuce owner. Constant repair and maintenance. But like I tell my wife, at least I'm not out drinking and whoring all night. Though once she said " I'd almost prefer that you did since you love that truck more then me !" .
The problem with the "Flame Heater Starter" units is the constant maintenance they need. They work great and get the job done, but since they need constant maintenance most people don't do it and they end up with problems.
Actually haven driven this little death traps in the Marines I'm glad they never allowed them to be sold. I almost rolled one just doing 20 MPH on base once. Yes they where great little goats out in the boonies as long as you where going under 10 MPH. Most of the guys in the motor pool would...
There are quite a few "mods" you can do with the TH400. It just depends on how much you want to spend. I posted some here last year.
Blue Alto clutches, Kolene Steels, new pump gears, Torrington bearing upgrades, rear bushing upgrade along with Torrington thrust bearing, stronger and wider 2nd...
I'm glad you went with that Delco starter. Parts are readily available and the quality of that starter is "far" superior to the Leece-Neville. Also it is so much lighter ! and with the gear reduction it isn't as hard on the batteries.
Man that really sucks ! You design something and someone else comes along and basically steals it ! My father was a "cabinet" maker when that actually meant something. So I know about woodwork from years of helping him in his shop.
That is why I recommend that all deuce owners convert their brake lines to stainless steel or "cuprinal" lines like Peashooter was selling. Also replace all the flex lines with the "PTFE stainless steel" braided hose. This way you will not have a brake failure due to loosing a brake line or hose.
