How does one start a CUCV quietly?

Closed the front and back gates and it was ready to receive empty concrete bags. We were installing new fencing and it was a windy day. As we emptied the bags, they were tossed in trailer so they wouldn’t blow away. Worked like a charm. Trailer gets painted this summer.

The BGGs are good and also the Michelin All Terrains Have the Michelin’s ATs on two of my trucks now. Excellent tire. Extremely happy with them. On my Ranch CUCV, I went with the Cooper AT3. They have proven to be a much better tire than I expected.

Steering wheel shaft splines stripped or skipped position? Something in steering shaft? That’s quite a difference in steering wheel position from one trip to the next without something being stripped or busted.

Was it always this way or did it occur on your last trip?

Welcome to Steel Soliders. If you can’t turn engine over by hand, then your correct.....it’s bad. Have you removed the glow plugs and tried again? It willl reduce compression and if it’s hydro locked, let any water out. Either way, your gonna have to start pulling parts off.

If starter hasn’t been rebuilt in a while or never, I would recommend having it rebuilt. It’s already off the truck if you’re testing it. Don’t forget to use new starter bolts and that the front bracket is installed.

What preventive items are you referring to? Oil change? New axle bearings? ??? Part of the fun of owning a CUCV is learning how to maintain them yourself. Their fairly easy to work on, and once you understand the 12/24 system, it’s not bad at all. The resources here and available member help...

ACDelco still makes the side marker socket. Edit: I think this is the correct shifter socket. “Shift light indicator socket” Also made by ACDELCO.
