What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Owensexports NOS antenna bracket arrived today. Installation was somewhat of a puzzle but I figured it out.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Had to troubleshoot the motorcycle mostly but once that was done I installed the springs for the soft-door handles. I was wondering why the two doors popped open the last time I drove it around, then noticed there were no springs.

    LQ9 6.0 LS engine

As a retired Flight Engineer, I appreciate the aircraft seat track. I still have four 8-foot strips in the garage. EDIT to add: I also have a handful of tie-down fittings for the track, which made me notice the way you're using it isn't going to work, not as seat-track anyway.

    HMMWV Side Marker Blinker System!

If I'm driving around at night, I'd rather the side marker be lit than it blink during a turn. At night the vehicle is a black hole - difficult to see if another driver wants to change lanes and looks quickly over their shoulder (which is significantly more than most drivers do). Both would...

    Transfer case oil

The pubs for mine said DexVI, so it got Dex VI.

Those posts on the left and right seem redundant, just knock them out.

    BlackHawk Down CUCVs

HMMWVs got a lot of airplay in the movie, but I guess there were some M1010s, M1008s, and M1009s there too. I found this video and at the end of the video they show some photos of the stadium used by the Pakistanis.

Picked up an 09 M1123 and the power steering is wonky

Well there's no sport in that.

    So I bought a trailer... (M1101)

The ONLY difference between the M1101 and the M1102 are the numbers on the dataplate. Otherwise everything was the same. It was done that way to prevent a soldier from connecting a heavily loaded trailer to a vehicle not rated for the weight. In other words, puny Vehicle X can only pull an...

Picked up an 09 M1123 and the power steering is wonky

Some years back I had a mid 80s Ford Courier truck as my daily driver. I bought it from my neighbor. The steering had a peculiarity in that after the turn the steering system didn't center itself, so if you let go of the steering wheel the truck would keep turning. I couldn't figure out what...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

The postal delivery person dropped something heavy on the stoop- should be the grab handles! You know, since porch pirate thieves are so common you'd think the delivery people would make at least a small effort to make the package less visible, but they leave it on the very edge of the step...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Changed the transfer case fluid, then put the jack under and pulled the crossmember to drop the transmission pan. Last night I used the vacuum pump to pull most of the transmission fluid out the dipstick hole, so when I dropped the pan today there was only about a quart remaining. Some wrench...

Humvee military antenna for Ham Radio use

It's like pulling teeth.... ;) OP, "ham radio" covers a lot of bandwidth, and no single antenna is going to work for the entire thing. You need to figure out what bands you want to work, who you'd like to be talking to, and for what purpose. For example, many offroad groups use CB, GMRS...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Rapco painted the tailgate and rear face, and now the hood. It came out much better than I expected. Next is the cowl and windshield surround, then the left and right sides. Then all the little clean-up stuff like the brush guard and mirror brackets.

Humvee 4L80e ATF 3 or 6, can ATF 6 cause leaks?

When I changed the two filters in my Grand Cherokee I (for a change) read the directions on the RTV; said to let it cure X hours before exposing it to the ATF. That meant I had to leave the pan empty and roll the jeep off the ramps, then leave it overnight. After refilling it the next morning...

    4L80E Info Request!

No, not more than one filter, but my typical routine is to buy the filter, get slimed up with trans fluid, grease, or oil, then discover the filter I bought isn't anything like the filter I removed. Then I have to go back to the parts store and sort out the right filter. I was hoping to skip...

    4L80E Info Request!

Can we agree this is considered the "shallow pan" so I only need to buy the filter once?

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Installed the key switch. I wanted it accessible but out of view, so it went under the heater switches. I'd have to try really hard to find a bigger pain-in-the-butt place to put it. But it's in. I'll give it a try tomorrow- too beat from a full day of work and I'm growing to really...
