If you press full pedal while waiting for glow plugs to cycle it will set the the fast idle solenoid. Keeping them stock, healthy and maintained makes all the difference. I have yet to use my block heater.

You can resale the containers when your done. Yes, the containers are vented. No moisture issues.

Ignition key is square head and doors are the rounded head. Standard civillian GM setup for these. Unless you find a NOS CUCV set, you’ll have two keys.

I would install a new set of head gaskets. You have already gone this far and a new set is cheap insurance. There might be some flaw/damage to the current set that you can’t see.

You get what you pay for. Plenty of cheap gauges out there.

Amazon has the complete sets. I replaced the door locks and ignition key assembly. They fit perfect. They were also the least expensive

Not sure I bought mine on Amazon ACDelco and in black.
