Agree ! ARB lockers are the way to go with a deuce. The rear axles are already squirrely when turning corners. So why add trouble with Detroit Lockers .
No, you need a "full emersion rated hose" . The standard fuel hoses work great running fuel inside them, but the outside cannot handle the fuel it destroys them over time. They are pricey but which would you rather have, a cheap hose that will give out when your driving down the highway or an...
I won't be loosening the fan belts as I will be eliminating the fan and going with two 11" electric fans I have. This way I can just turn off the fans with the same solenoid switch. I also would love to have a "manual" activated valve but I could not find any for what I needed. If you know of a...
I did think about that. What I decided to do was add "check clutch drain plug" to my maintenance checklist. So when I do my normal lube and maintenance checks I would also remove the plug and check for any oil.
Fpchief, I see you went with the "Parker" replacement fuel pump. Do you have it in yet ? You should notice a real decrease in noise from the old Olympic one.
The wear on the first gear is normal since it must engage with the countershaft. We need to see deep inside to figure out what is causing the locking up problem.
A lot of the problems stem from the fact that this truck was originally designed for 12 volts, not 24 volts. The military added on a lot of stuff like two heavy duty batteries, dual alternators and some large relays for the glow plugs. If you don't pay attention and just let your truck go then...
You can still use the voltage gauge but the load gauge will not work. The frequency gauge needs the converter so you can keep it if you want. I hated dealing with it (frequency converter) as they go out on a regular basis !
You also don't need to start a new thread to ask a question. Just use...
Sounds like the side oil pressure regulator is hanging up a bit. The main oil pressure from the oil pump is between 100 to 120 psi. It is then regulated down to about 30 to 40 psi. My truck puts out 110 psi and is regulated to 35 psi. Like "Doghead" said don't worry about it. After you drive it...
You said that right ! I own a small 7 ton dump truck and there have been some scary situations I got myself into by not paying attention to the load I was carrying ! Wet sand is one of them ! I actually had the truck pointing to the sky when I tried to dump an oversize load once !
That's not an "old" International ! I thought by your description you where driving a 1940's or the latest a 1950's IHC !
By the way, learning to drive like that has probably helped you in the long run right ?
