The good and the bad of owning something tracked and/or armored?

As a mechanic by trade I have no problem getting dirty, it's just the amount of work needed to keep one of these rigs fully operational that's the problem. I like to "play" with my toys , not spend most of the time fixing them. In fact the suspension rods can break just setting there on a M60A1...

The good and the bad of owning something tracked and/or armored?

I just remember all the maintenance we had to pull on our M60A1 . You would go out for a few hours of "play" time then spent the next 4 days doing maintenance on the tracks and road wheels and etc....... The same went for my IHC bulldozers. Use it for a day then pull maintenance for a week !

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Here's the vender I use. http://www.stainlesssteelfittings.com/Stainless_Steel_Adapters_s/2003.htm?gclid=CLPltKrEh8kCFdKGfgodiw0Jow They seem to have the best quality and prices and they ship really fast too ! The gauge is my fuel pressure gauge. I have one at the entrance to my filters and...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

My father helped build the "ALCAN" highway before WWII . He wasn't in the military then but was working for a supplier that brought in materials for the military crews. He drove a 1930's 4 ton flatbed IHC. He had all these pictures in his photo album from that time and also his time in the war...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Garrett. I tried to find that 3 way fitting at the Parker place. Parker doesn't sell anything like that. I have another place in Seattle that they recommended. This place sells a lot of stuff to the fishermen who go to Alaska. He felt it looked like something he had seen in a marine diesel...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

We had a break in the crappy weather we've been having here lately so I went out and finished installing my Injection pump oil hoses. I replaced the broken brass 45 degree fitting with a stainless steel one and installed the 919 PTFE hoses. I then fired up the old girl to check for any leaks. It...

    24v LED headlights

All the Grote LED's on our busses are garbage too. They said the taillights should last 10 years. Well they have lasted about 2 years on average ! We have warrantied so many I cannot even count how many I've replaced ! The LED markers are the same story. Now the new headlights are a different...

I have a bad feeling about winter here also. They say it should only be cold and rainy, but when are the weather people ever right ? We had a great summer and fall so far. I think winter will slam us.

    Show us your Military Trailers

Yes. My MOS was a 1811 Marine Tank Crewman. I later made a "lateral" move (changed jobs) to the motor pool in a Landing support Battalion. There I was the company welder, driver and later mechanic.

    Need Tire Advice - M109A3

What did your 395's go for ? I haven't seen any for less then $300.00 a tire plus the adapters which add another $1000.00 . So that's around $3000.00 minimum with all the accessories. Probably costs more now.

    Need Tire Advice - M109A3

I know everyone thinks I don't like the 395's but I actually do ! Their a great tire, just extremely expensive to run. Also like Jeepsinker said you wouldn't have made it out of the desert on singles with two flat tires. I would go with the 11.00X20's myself. The G177 are extremely good tires...
