Almost makes me "special" to have a real o-ring gauge I guess.
One of those things that sits there in my toolbox most of the time - but it sure is nice when you "just need to know" .
Of course that and a nickle won't buy you a cup of coffee. ;-)

Question for you: The bulldozier alternator - does it have a built in regulator? Obviously something somewhere is passing more voltage that it should be so that is where I would look first if I were you. Maybe a meter rather than relying on the truck gauges would be good.
it won't fix it...

Neat! I couldn't remember for sure if you could give it a "love tap" or not, but what you described sounds like a heck of a plan. It is amazing that your 20 ton press was able to get the old insert out. You must be living right because sometimes in days gone by, a 50 ton press could be...

Wonder how much of that metal was melted for scrap and used by the Germans to build some of the best industrial machines in the world - after the war? That really is a sad looking field of dreams for every one of us!

Banks and Credit Card companies have a thing called "Truth In Lending" that they need to comply with.
Sadly, Truth In Selling - not so much. Especially in the used vehicle market.
Whatever you do, IGNORE any claims of rebuild based on any little triangular tags on the door of a military...

The Wagner "paint slinger" is a good tool so long as you NEVER EVER loan it to somebody. And if you clean it really well. Home Despot also sells a rebuild kit for those guns and replacing the parts before it needs to be done will keep you happy.

For me, the axle seals and any other problems can be solved somewhere else. At home or where ever.
The axle that is out of place needs to be jacked into place. CHOCK THE FRONT WHEELS and put everything in neutral. You need a come-along or something similar to drag the axle forward /...

If you can get "sledge hammer access" to the part of the frame that has the "socket" for the torque rod in it, a swift smack on that "socket" will jar the rod loose. Much easier than trying to drive the ball itself out of the socket.
.
That might work! When I saw the hole in that bracket I really wondered WHY it was where it is. Most of the time, that square hole can be accessed with a half inch ratchet or pull bar. The tool that Sharecropper offered up is pretty fantastic! I did a few searches and using "alternator...

Seems that after talking to my State Farm guy - it appears that there are personal and commercial policies. And then there is a different type of commercial policy that is personal vehicles owned by an individual that are not commercial.
I think part of who will cover what is the agent...

That casket hanging out the back of a hearse is definitely an eye catcher at a car show...
Had a good friend of mine who had a painting company. It was him and a helper and his work vehicle was a hearse. It was a nice way to get all his stuff from job to job under cover. The unexpected...

Well dang. That definitely made it more difficult than it had to be.
Tennessee? Didn't know you guys were having gas problems (except cost) up there. One gallon?
.
So, running out of fuel...
At least NOW you know where the completely empty mark is on the fuel gauge.
I can remember coasting into a gas station before. No fun at all!
.
That is really sad.
I know I have borrowed things in the past. Can't remember exactly what - but I know I've lost or busted something. I specifically got a new one or put money in the hands of the friend who loaned me something. To be honest, it bothers me more than if I had a ruined a...
