M870A1 - Daytons, luv em or hate em..

Stunning photo! Ah now I understand what tractor you have, the 920s were replaced by the 916A1 and would be considered the prime mover of either trailer.

Battery Disconnect Light comes on...transmission goes into limp mode- only 5 gears

All the usual suspects. Start at the terminals on the LBCD under the spare tire, next the battery disconnect box alongside the battery box.

M870A1 - Daytons, luv em or hate em..

Not to be picky but the LET used the 172 trailer while the 920 used the 870. Although I am sure the various components got all mixed up in service.

    M920 rebuild mileage?

The rebuilds on these trucks occurred in the 2000s when these trucks were already 20 years old. It’s most likely that the speedometer was replaced at some point.

    Tires for M170

No that is a civilian tread tire, to be authentic you need the 7.00-16 NDCC which is their sku 676467.

    CUCV Bumper Markings

For sure the Army mostly used stencils like you say, but the FONT on the stencil needs to be “block” (like on the pictured CUCVs) and not “stencil” (like is pictured on the HMMWV).

Deuce Recovery June 15-18 Augusta, GA to Austin, Texas - 1100 miles

As hot as it is, it may be tempting to drive at night, if you do, put some kind of revolving amber light on the back of the truck so you don't get rear ended, this has happened many times to people on here at night with catastrophic results.

    Lmtv trans code 4413

4413 is short to ground B solenoid. Supposed to be 3.26 ohms between transmission pin J and H at the transmission. And no continuity between either pin and ground. If checks out at the transmission, look for harness problems, especially where the harness enters the cab.

Mounting an AC compressor on stock 6.2?

The 6.5 was used up until 2001 or so in various vehicles including vans, most of the time with A/C. Those newer vehicles are sometimes hard to spot in junk yards. Anyway, that serp setup is the most reliable I can think of.

Welcome, that winch was put there by someone after military service, I think that is the drag winch from a 5 ton military wrecker.

    M36 Survivor

Came across this M36 “A0” on Craigslist and went to look at it today. If it’s a survivor it’s on advanced life support though. It’s a 1961 White with the OA331 gasoline engine. It was winch equipped until someone whacked off the frame, but the entire whacked winch comes with the truck, what...

    M6 Pedestal

Anyone have one of these in the bed of your truck? My bridge erection boat had this mounted on it and silly me didn't even know it was a HMMWV thing.

    CUCV Bumper Markings

Desert tan and 2". Block font not stencil like pictured. Typically they use vinyl transfer letters.

Newbie looking for a TM for a 2006 M1148 A1R LHS not found here in TM area. TM-9-2320-392-10...

ROTFL Actually Guam is a cool place, to visit that is. I think I would lose my sanity living there.

Newbie looking for a TM for a 2006 M1148 A1R LHS not found here in TM area. TM-9-2320-392-10...

Some deceptive photographs of the rear drive shaft, one pic shows the slip joint fully extended, others show it in the normal state. That truck has not run or gotten any love in at least 10 years. Like the rear window though.

Just out of curiosity, what does it cost to ship a truck from Guam to Long Beach?

    1958 Machine shop Deuce

The later 5 ton versions of that truck are called "SEORTM" or "Shop Equipment Organizational Repair Truck Mounted". Not sure if that earlier deuce mounted version was called that as well. The chassis would be called M46. Very nice survivor! Kudos to you for preserving it!
