I am considering the same idea for my M915.....I dont always need a tractor and I am trading for a dropside deuce body.
I too will post pics as the plan comes together.
When I was in Korea I actually got to see the switcher mentioned above in action.
They had rail wheels adapted to the Rockwells on it and it was pulling a string of flat cars loaded with new M1A2 tanks.
I got pictures but not in digit form.
I don't think AMG is interested in selling retail to us MV types.
My intention was to buy RETAIL from the vendor and allow them to make a PROFIT.
I am retired and on a fixed income....of which I share with an ex-wife, I have to save money whenever I can.
That is prob correct Jim......but it nevers hurts to try....I basically ask them for a list of vendors.....if they blow me off I'll put a Public Affairs dam dam on them.
I need an original air horn (goes on top of the cab), speedo/tach cables, headlight switch and windshield wiper motors (air operated). I also need a lower hood panel for the drivers side and the hood hold up latch for the passenger side.
I found the one of the cables on EPAY but I don't have...
Before I do a lot of internet searching or mine the SS archives does anyone know if a regular person can buy from vendors that do business with AM General.
I need parts for the M915 and would prefer do go straight to the source rather than EPAY or the usual suspects such as Memphis Equipment...
I think the later deuces had a dual master cylinder to prevent the loss of all fluid and to prevent the 'OHHHHHH Chit.....no brakes" syndrome.
The air pack actuated the master cylinder (I think) not the other way around.
I could be wrong.
You need dual stacks like I had on my bobber.....I made them out of HUMVEE fording kit exhaust pipes. Gave it a mellow sound.
Or....if your are going to run it out the rear.....ya got to balance it out and have two.
Just my HO.
Welcome to the Dark (green) Side
If you don't come to the GA rally we will talk about you and make fun of your truck.:-D
Since you are near the west side of the state you are close to the AL MV Mafia.....I am the Don and we will make you an offer you can't refuse.
We may have a...
Just in case it is thickened fuel take a couple gallons of gas out with you on the recovery.
Pour it in and it should thin out your mix.
And the do bleed the lines using the screws on top of the secondarys. That is most likely the prob...air in the lines.
You should not drain the primary...
Looks like something out of "Transformers".
Ya got to love the M-1......it took first place at the "Tank Nationals" several years running.
Ask the poor dumb bastages that were in the T-72's.
Oh wait...they're all dead.
Ask the folks that were watching from a safe vantage point.
And no...
I use a credit card (NEVER pay online with debit card) for my GL purchases.
You can also do a wire transfer from your bank to theirs but I think your bank will charge a fee for this.
You have a narrow deadline to do it and we all know how easy GL corporate in Arz is to work with:roll...
