Well said, although if the factory fuel filter housing starts leaking you will be doing a spin on filter mod... wound up having to do that on my 85 m1008 . A spin-on filter for oil or fuel is a good upgrade. On the other hand, if what you have works and doesn't leak... you might say why. .

The ATF/Acetone mixture seems to have been slowly eating away (loosening) the rust as best I can tell. It is in between the outrigger tubes that are stuck inside the "slide tubes". It's is a big hunk of metal about 40 inches long and about 8" wide and maybe 10" tall. There are 4 on this...

Rust Question: For several months now I have been regularly spraying a combination of ATF and Acetone in between two pieces of metal. Two square tubes that fit inside one of the other. Something similar to a trailer "hitch" and the "receiver" it fits in... Problem is definitely is rust...
