how many yards can a SEE FLU 419 move in a day?

thingamadigger, I have small company - not in the construction or dirt moving business though. Over the years I have walked away from a lot of bid situations where "I can get it for this" was the topic of discussion. My line of thinking goes like this: I am willing to work hard. I am...

    Picked up a 52 Deuce.

Neat truck! It even has a hard top. Those are really nice when the rain gets serious :) You will definitely have a lot of sweat equity in her, but that is a really hard feeling to beat. Built with your own two hands... It looks like the previous owner had a gin pole setup for lifting with...

    Hello from New York

Welcome from North Carolina! There is a thread on here that offers ideas for a toolkit and useful things to have when something goes wrong. It might be worth a read. This particular list was compiled by an LMTV owner, but the biggest majority of it (minus the metric tools) will apply to...

    Picked up a 52 Deuce.

Welcome to the site and the hobby! I dunno... Let's see.. Green Iron or a Cheesewagon (School Bus). Could be a difficult decision - unless you go out and climb up in your newly acquired Deuce. The longer you sit in that seat, the more she will be calling your name! Technical Manuals are...

Standard Bolt & Nut Torque Specifications

Owen, You are definitely right! This thread is a really good exercise in reality and a first class "brain check" for everybody that works on trucks. You can't really U N D E R S T A N D torque and how important it is - until you put on a tire, don't get it right - and the tire comes off...

Standard Bolt & Nut Torque Specifications

Pretty amazing Will... Who knows, maybe we were just lucky but the only thing that ever got a torque wrench applied to it 40 years ago when I was turning wrenches on big trucks was the engine, hogshead, transmission and transfer case. It wasn't at all abnormal to use the impact gun (Ingersol...

Standard Bolt & Nut Torque Specifications

Dipstick, That is an outstanding chart. A big number of the bolts on these MVs will be Grade 5 and the other values for Grade 8 were offered up by frank8003 so we have everything we need. Yes Sir! Handy "cheat notes" are a wonderful thing. Especially when you are tired from a day of...

    Driveline question...

Opinions are like other parts of the anatomy, but I would go for the Spicer. They have been making them for a long time and they are OEM equipment on a lot of trucks.

What have you done to your 10 ton this week?

But how much fun can a person have at 43 miles an hour sitting twice or three times higher than everything else on the road! SOOOOOOoooooo Much Fun That truck looks so cool. It is a MONSTER. Besides, what guy do you know that doesn't want to claim "Mine Is Bigger Than Yours"? Maybe a 7 Ton...

Is there a place to download a transmission manual... I think its called the unit repair?

Hi spankybear, Yes sir. The boom will swivel 360. I agree that the picture gives the impression that wires travel through... On the page with part numbers - it references Figure 497. I just assumed it to be correct. I can only assume that "wires through" isn't possible because in training...

    M936 Exhaust Clamp?

Wonder what ever happened to the exhaust "flapper" (picture below) rather than a bent pipe? I know they rattle and clank sitting at idle - but it isn't like these trucks are going to sneak up on anything... OR is the bend in the pipe to push the exhaust out away from the truck maybe? OR is...

10W oil substitute for PS fluid?

10w oil is the same weight as hydraulic oil. I use Shell Tellus (32 I think) in my hydraulic tanks. It is definitely 10w oil. I can't speak to how happy it will or MAY NOT make your Allison Automatic transmission though...

Is there a place to download a transmission manual... I think its called the unit repair?

Done. I decided it made more sense to edit my previous post and put the numbers below the picture. (Post #9)

What did you do to your deuce this week?

That is a pretty fantastic looking lockout! Need to sit down and see how much time and cost was involved. As cool as that looks - you might be able to sell them to those of us who don't have time and tools required to do that job. There are locking fuel caps on this site for about $85 and I...
