Really nice recovery! That aluminum low deck trailer is particularly nice! Definitely a nice way to make good use of your knuckle boom Hiab! The truck is good too. Definitely handy to have had some help to make it happen...
More Toys!!! Yeah!
I am hopeful - but it could depend on what was updated and maybe not documented. Guess I need to "play truck" tomorrow morning. Supposed to be about 55 most of the day. Could be perfect weather for a few hours of window cleaning. I am willing to bet they haven't been cleaned since my truck...
chucky,
As mentioned above by SCSG-G4 - The "DOT Man" does not play. You don't want to get caught over the weighted tag limit for your truck. They will park you on the side of the road for weight and for faulty equipment until you resolve the problem - and tossing weight off on the side of...
Hi Bernd,
Let me start off by saying that I am not a paint and body man. Just offering observations and possibilities worthy of consideration:
First and maybe most important is a Technical Bulletin TB-43-0209 Paint, Color, Marking, Camouflage that even has "paint by number" pages that show...
It looks like you got yourself a "purty" truck. A little work here and there - and you can start telling all your pals about your 1970 Convertible
Congratulations!
.
Looks like you might drag the back end if you climb or come down off a little bit of a hill. Maybe it's just the angle of the picture. Definitely a neat rig though!
Check with member Suprman. He seems to have a lot of parts available for S&S trucks available and is quite knowledgeable on the parts required for what you need to do...
Yeah! Your truck has the Chinese Virus... That's it!
I hate it for you. My S&S M1088 is supposed to have self cancelling turn signals. The "self cancel" part seems to work properly about half the time. Similar but different. Frustrating all the same.
GOOD LUCK on your repair!
Hi 92ramaro,
Is that Triangle Dolly something that you built? It definitely seems like a mighty fine way to roll an axle from under the truck with the wheels off. I kept looking at it - and finally came to the conclusion that the size of the triangle is the trick to keeping the assembly...
Very nice Owen! Yessir, I know for sure that your truck is a lot happier now! That definitely needed to happen. It's scary what we find sometimes. It seemed good enough at the time - but what you did is definitely a safety upgrade.
Congratulations and Welcome!
Lots of Deuce information available here... You already mentioned pictures... Post plenty and as you start projects - snap a few before and after pics. TM's as PDF's are worthy of loading on your smartphone (just in case).
Might be a good idea to get yourself...
Absolutely not. I don't think DOT would allow it even on a MV hobby truck. Based solely on my one bad experience with a completely different product and company 45 years ago I am certain that I wouldn't have any sort of retread on the front axle!
Those Bandag caps are pretty amazing though.
Don't want to start an argument - but a Bandag Recap on a Michelin Carcass will outlast the original Michelin and most other tires. Of course like everything else there are retread facilities that do a first class job. And there are others who will make you swear off recaps forever.
My first...
Hi Falcon,
So - removing the boom pin. Are you talking about the pin in the pictures below?
Guessing you already have it supported on both ends with sling of some sort? It should be as simple as driving it out with a brass punch. On the other hand - if the truck wasn't regularly...
