I can't swear to it, but these wreckers seem to be the exception in the military fleet. I feel sure there is some sort of inspection that gets done - but most of these trucks seem to have been lightly customized to the (by the?) crew that operated it.
I haven't seen any with a 5 Disk CD...
Thanks @Csm Davis ! I had tossed the spades overboard yesterday upon recommendation of @simp5782 . They were a LOT lighter than I expected.
I walked out back and gave your idea the evil eye... Seems like a heck of a plan! The only thing that I see as a possible "aww crap" are the wires to...
Yeah well... I am still overly cautious. It is bad enough to repair something that is broken. It is REALLY BAD when you (meaning me) broke it for no good reason.
I was pretty excited when I discovered it. It was an old thread, but I got plenty of good from it! There definitely are an awful lot of helpful people here...
I was amazed at how heavy that access cover was! I recruited help to lift it down to the ground. Seeing how beefy it is, chances are I could have just shoved it off onto the ground - but sure as heck - something would have warped or bent. I have enough troubles without ME creating more!
I...
I am "bent" that this thing isn't going to dribble hydraulic oil all the time. I believe I have a leak in the packing on the Jib cylinder. That was what I was planning to investigate when the hose popped. I think most of my pain is from it sitting.
The socks are actually shop rags. Company...
I have never been to the Dakota's. I would imagine it would be pretty miserable in the winter with the wind whipping across the open ground. The old cowboy movies show it that way.
I started working at a place that used MV's to construct steel high lines in 1983. I knew a lot about gas...
I noticed the AK in your handle and the Fairbanks, Alaska for a location. I would imagine the heated spit valves would be a requirement up there. We have a few days of freezing weather every winter - but nothing like what you get. It just really seemed odd to me that air tank drains were...
I have had it for about 6 weeks now. The outriggers were (are) rusted into the body. The back two came out eventually. The front two are still stubbornly in place. I have resorted to a hacksaw blade on a saws-all. I have worn out several blades... Lots of penetrating fluid. I am using a...
That "under the bumper" mounting is a really SLICK idea!
Funny how it works... I had no idea about weight. They looked big and heavy, so I just kept walking around and stepping over them. Over-thinking it I guess. I presumed ground anchors were made out of the same heavy pipe as the boom...
Would you mind snapping a picture of the top of your M936 boom? How specifically the Land Anchors are affixed to it is my interest. I have seen a LOT of the spades up on top - but no decent pictures of the brackets. I am getting PD tired of climbing over mine - and all I am doing is replacing...
tie6044, you have enough "kids" to start a ball team! Eighteen (+2) is a bunch of iron. You could glue all 18 of them together and have a 45 ton...
That looks like one more happy dog in the picture too ;-) Can't say for sure, but I think I would have had a good time just getting to drive...
My M936 seems to be configured just like all the other 939 Series so far as the air system is concerned. On the passenger side, I have 4 (looks like radiator petcocks). I guess they haven't been opened in a while... Sprayed them down with WD-40 and let them sit. Still no go. So a pair of...
It really is a gorgeous truck. Until I saw yours I hadn't been able to understand the WHY anybody would want to go from 6 or 10 wheels on the ground to 4. The idea of bobbed truck just didn't do it for me. This really is the exception. It looks like a pickup truck on steroids. You...
Definitely a FIRST CLASS rework! So, do you have a set of rock lights planned for it? Not so much for crawling over rocks - but for the "wow factor"...
Thanks JonM934 That is pretty good looking! Nice field of view. Definitely understand the brightness thing. I could imagine doing the same thing. I crank the brightness way down on my phone GPS for that exact reason...
I just feel the need to glance into that big space behind the truck...
Thanks simp5782 . I looked. I tried search. Not quite sure why I didn't find it - but I appreciate the help! I had no trouble finding the TM for the other 989...
