M871 has both the mil and civilian hookup. Why, Rumplecat, would you be needing this info? ;-) Trailboss (I would imagine) and I have a bad case of buyer's remorse for jumping on the earlier trailers
If you have the complete transfer PTO, driveshaft, and rear crossmember gearbox, clean it up real nice and put it on Ebay, the last setup I sold like that brought nice $$$. I would say around $300 as a reserve?
Question for you guys with expansible vans (M820A2, M313, etc) that are set up as maintenance shops. When there are two rows of workbenches flush with the sides of the non-expanded van, what happens when you expand out the sides? Is the idea that more soldiers can work on things on the...
The Tornado 230 engine in some civilian applications came with a 2 BBL carb. I found one of these and installed in on my M715 thinking I was going to have huge power gains. I do not think it helped at all.
To the best of my knowledge there were never any "speed" parts made for this engine.
All the last contract Air Force Deuces had that. Look for a "Brake" warning light between the tach and speedo. The truck will have a dual master cylinder and 2 airpacks.
If all the truck is missing is an air compressor and some filters, gee wiz let me send you an air compressor, they are...
I don't see how anyone makes money parting out a truck they have over $1000 in. Then for sure you will be left with a carcass as you say will be a pain to haul to the scrap yard to get $200. If the sheet metal is straight and not rusted, you are better off accumulating the parts over time...
As much as I like the truck, it is the poster child of "can't get rid of it". If you don't want the 3 mpg and low power 6602, buy a 800 series with the Cummins to start with for the same money. This truck is kinda a museum piece, a tribute to the 1950's U.S. Army that needed more gasoline...
The 6 hole Budd deuce wheels will bolt right up. It is unlikely the engine would be any factory or military color after 60? years of civilian use. Good luck with the recovery.
Look at the front axle, the IH has a different type than the "split" Timken of the White. Sounds like weight may be around 8K. The engine in the IH is a Red Diamond and it will say that cast into the block. It is overhead valve. The IH will have 9.00-20 front tires and the White is...
The only 915 series that will go 75 is a M915 slick with the Cat transmission. Agreed everyone? The axle ratio is 4.33 in the 915 and 6 something in the 6x6 and 8x6. That eats up all the overdrive in the 16 speed.
The flaw with your plan is the Hendrickson rear suspension. Without...
Dan, I'm kinda sure there were only A1 (Allison) versions of the M915. All the 916's and so on that are coming out will have the fussy 16 speed D-7155 Cat trans. I would not put big rubber on a 915A1 because the 1st ratio is not very deep. Big rubber would make this worse. Also the tires...
