I'm sure most of you are already familiar with these trailers, but for those who aren't, they come with some really cool features. The parking brakes on each wheel and the rear landing gear allow you to load just about anything without needing to be connected to a vehicle. Additionally the...
Yes sir, I had just cleaned it of the rusty clumpy grease. Really fortunate I made it home but after going through the motions of replacing the bearings and races, this job would have been awful on the side of the road. I’m sure I could have cleaned and repacked the bearings, but why bother and...
After a 300-mile journey and a 4.5-hour drive, I'm pleased to report that my M1101 from GovPlanet has finally been freed. I will forever refer to this trailer as the Gov Planet Refugee.
This morning, I dedicated some time to working on the trailer with the primary goals of cleaning it...
Hey guys, got my first M1101 trailer. Love it!
got to from GovPlanet in Butner NC. $700 won it and out the door it was $980 with SF97. I’m sure a lot of people have gotten better deals, but I’m stoked about it.
Seems like one of the hubs is warm and the other is cool. I suspect the castle nut...
Slow day at work today, figured Id make a post here. Im building a 1967 M715 that was a brush truck for Cleora Fire Department in Oklahoma. In its former life it was owned by the Army in Fort Hood, Texas. The 227th aviation squadron used it as a radio truck. Currently have a 6.4 hemi 8hp70 and...
We're the hood numbers somehow correlated to the vin? I tried to see if I could find my old numbers under the fire department respray -no luck unfortunately.
Thanks for the replies, you cant just set the axle to factory specs since this is a closed knuckle design. I cant get a measurement off of the axle for caster angle because of the closed knuckles. I know people have swapped over Ford and Chevy axles but that really doesn't help know what the...
Looking into swapping a custom front axle into my m715 -I can measure the pinion angle but since these factory axles have CVs I cant find a good number for caster. Can anyone help with this?
You guys are a trip lol.
Yall would hate me as a person I guess, Ive chopped up rarer parts for that fact that they get more appreciation in another life. If someone is interested in my Red M715 Gate let me know, its just taking up room until I get ideas for my next project.
Thanks guys, the photos are decieving as these were not straight. The green one was actually bowed really bad and is full of waves and creases, the red one is the worst one. I have another gate tucked away thats exceptional for when I own a m715 one day. So for someone who doesnt own an m715 to...
I understand the rarity, it was surprising to find them on Craigslist. I have found people in Texas with 20+ M715s at their disposal so I dont feel too bad about it. I also didnt feel that they were in good enough condition to put on someones restored M715. Always hate seeing a great looking...
Ive always been a big fan of the M715, never had the chance to own one though. Hopefully that will change one day. I was down in Florida and found these two Veterans on craigslist and I had to bring them home. I dropped them off at a friends place and he brewed this up for me. Im proud of how it...
Always been a big fan of the M715 and was proud to pick up 2 veterans on my a work trip down in Florida. Found them both on Craigslist. I dropped them off at a buddies place and he brewed this up for me. Pretty excited about it. Hope you guys like it.
Thanks Jeff! Great idea. Unfortunately I can't think if anywhere locally that dealt with M715s. I know that in NC there were many that were used as brush fire trucks but they kept the tailgates on the vehicles -at least they resold them that way. I will try to do more research though.
