Making use of the onboard 400 Amp generator

Is it possible? Well, anything is possible if you throw enough time and money at it. If it efficient? Nope. You could theoretically run the slave port to an inverter. You would need to have a very big inverter, and one designed to operate 120/240 split By the time you buy the inverter and...

    Broken fuel tank

I've seen multiple posts here and the facecrook groups over the years about the baffle coming loose.

Anyone test their infrared blackout light under NVGs?

Tried looking at it with NODs. Didn't really see anything. Was told by someone the light is an LED that is the wrong frequency to show up with goggles, but not sure if that is true.

Making use of the onboard 400 Amp generator

Run as many circuits as you need or want; it really depends on what you want to plug in and how much power it draws to figure out what is ideal for your situation. Once you figure it out, add one or two more just for future expansion if necessary; it's easier to set up for extra now than try to...

Making use of the onboard 400 Amp generator

Short answer is it isn't cost effective to try to utilize all the available power from a 400 amp alternator. Even trying to fully use the output of a 200 amp is challenging when you consider just how much power it really is. Longer answer, not complete but should give a basic idea (side...

    HMMWV REV truck brakes

And aren't the bleed screws normally on the top of the caliper, not the bottom?

    Parasitic draw and the HMMWV

if it is controlled by a switched power source off of an ignition hot wire, then in theory it should NOT be drawing power with the ignition off. I'd either start looking for the draw, or maybe install a battery disconnect when it's going to sit for longer periods of time.

Post a photo (or describe) your HMMWV travel tool kit

I'm also commonly towing trailers with my truck, so the RV + also covers hauling the trailer, where a normal policy won't. (at least to my understanding) I consider it cheap insurance, though reality is unless I'm in another state I have an Aunt/Uncle with a hay business and lots of...

Thinking of M1101/M1102 for the HMMWV. Tips wanted.

only reason for the difference is that some HMMWVs are only rated for 3400 lbs towing, and some are rated for 4200 lbs. Trailers are 100% identical other than the data plate.

    Parasitic draw and the HMMWV

My batteries drain down due to my dash cam. Takes about a week when just sitting there (group 24 AGM batteries, so about 2/3 the capacity of the 6Tagm) NOCO Gen5X2 (or the Gen 2X2, or 10X2) are designed for marine application charging/maintaining on board multi battery charging. Designed to...

AAA RV + 100 miles towing. Basic sockets and wrenches, pliers, jack, spare tire, tow bar, tow straps, winch. All I need is to get it to a paved road, and then call AAA to get it home.

    HMMWV M1123 Serpentine Belt Question

it's divided by serial number. Pre 196900 uses shorter belt, after 196900 serial number uses longer belt. Easiest visual cues are the remote power steering reservoir on top of the engine, and an idler pulley between the alternator and power steering pump. Remote reservoir and extra idler are...

    Ground Rod driver

Only problem with using power tools to drive the rod is you sometimes try to just pound the rod after you should have stopped. I remember hearing one electrician talking about how he had finally gotten the rod driven almost all the way into the ground, squatting down to drive it that last little...

Got a bit of a weird fuel thing to me anyway at least it SEAMS to be a fuel thing.

Opening the drain with it running was how I determined that my lift pump had failed. Injection pump will suck air in through the drain, and you won't get it started again without fixing the issue. Lift pump is relatively inexpensive and not that difficult to replace, other than being careful...

Got a bit of a weird fuel thing to me anyway at least it SEAMS to be a fuel thing.

Just trying to make sure I understand what you are saying. Engine off, no fuel from filter drain (normal) Engine running, no fuel from filter drain (not normal) You opened up filter housing and replaced filter, it had fuel in it. Sounds like fuel delivery issue before the filter. That...

Alternator availability for M1097A2 HMMWV. Will this fit? What fits?

V-belt trucks can have 60 amp, 100 amp, or 200 amp alternators I don't believe there are 400 amp ones, but there might be a few) Serpentine belt trucks can have either 200 or 400 amp alternators. 1097R1 trucks can be either V belt or serpentine, usually depending on whether it's a 3 speed...
