    LMTv 1070HT tranny, used

So, I have this used Allison transmission I got at an auction for cheap inside the green metal shipping box, allegedly operational and scavenged from an otherwise dead LMTV. I thought it was a M923 transmission when I bid on it but it is not. I see no interest on ebay and I would hate to throw...

    General topic: MV “social mass”

I was reading on the concept of ”social mass”, ie how a small issue of a minority can be so magnified as to garner media attention (hopefully positive) and as to seem quite more widespread than it actually is. Well, a hack, or trick of prestidigitation, I have done unwittingly. I have come to...

Finally got my R11 home from Cali - phew

Was able to title the R11 and get a temporary moving registration to get it to Florida all the way from Arizona. (Took about 51 hours counting the breaks with my friend co-driving). The second picture is from the first trip from Doyle, CA to Phoenix, Arizona with my friends on top taking a...

New to the deuce, quick question on humming pump.

Once I shut it down after a trip, I hear some kind of humming which must be the lift fuel pump. Am I correct? Also, are these originally equipped with a hair drier, if not I was thinking of installing one if possible. I am thinking of changing the fuel filters too but I hope it is not going to...

    Wheel lubing sight glass?

Was not sure if this was the right place to post. I have a front wheel on a tanker truck that has this cap allowing to sight the lubing, one used for trailer wheels too, I was told. I was not sure how that works and how to fill it up or maintain it. A trucker dude said if it is not lubed right...

Need Florida Vin check signed in Arizona + repost from other thread

I am racking my brain in Arizona (deployed there on TDY) to have my Florida vin and mileage certification form signed so I can take it and my auctioned truck to the Florida DMV to make my plates. If anyone knows a brave police officer in Phoenix who would do it for me, thanks, that is all...

Flip a switch to use gas?

Some guy at Walmart talking to me about my M35 and he be like “yeah I drove those trucks in the Army back in the days blabla….can use any fuel, just had to flip this switch if you ran on gas”. is there such a switch? Or is it a different engine?

Why these hoops around the rear shackle hooks?

So I am watching videos of captured or destroyed Russian trucks (which makes me cry a bit for the truck). They look very similar to US trucks, no doubt a result of Ford providing them in WWII. What are these metal hoops around the shakles for at the rear of trucks? I have the same set up on my 5...

    Beadlock blocks valve stem?

I put a bead lock from a Sandtrail tire to a Goodyear 395 M/VT with combat rims and at one point while inflating the tire I got no tire pressure reading from a separate gauge. Air was going in but could not get out. It seems like the thick rubber bead of that Sandtrail beadlock is now pushing...

    FL Is Hagerty schizophrenic?

I insured my 84 5 ton in Florida with Hagerty no problem. The registration is for big trucks, though. They would not insure my 72 M35 because Florida requires a covered garage for antiques. It does have an antique registration. Then I called state farm, they also required the garage thingy, so...

    Air leak behind panel

I have a major air leak behind the panel. I will diagnose it further ths weekend as I do not have time right now. I just was doing my 72 Hour maintenance run of the engine and notitced a hiss by the panel when I leaned to check tranny fluid. I did not have enough air built to trace it exactly. I...

So I earned a deuce at auction... sort of, came with a tanker truck...

I was doing an online auction and something froze on my computer and I kept clicking away for that deuce, and it ended up putting me in for an Air Force jet tanker truck... So I won two trucks. I do not know what I am going to do with a tanker truck when I get it, or if it is in good enough...

    Truck tracks? Anybody use them?

I was wondering if anybody used that truck track system, ie if it is OK on the tranny and frame what not, Seems like rubber but does not look road legal. Maybe in Canada when it snows…

    Adventures in blinker gremlins

So my rear blinker bulbs were good, but they started needing some warm up before blinking, especially the right side, and then the right one stopped altogether, and then the left started getting longer warm up period too and a few weeks later went out too, getting this apparent common creeping...

UPS broke water pump pulley (anyone interested?)

So I had a water pump and pulley delivered and the box was damaged. The copper gasket was mangled and a chunk was broken off the water pump pulley. I filed a claim but last time I filled a claim with UPS, I never heard anything of it. Meanwhile I am thinking of removing the pulley and switching...

Looks like my Air Dryer is blown.

Was on the highway and all of a sudden I lost air pressure. It was too noisy to detect where the leak came from, I ended up pushing the emergency button and dragged the truck out to a gas station on the side. One of my hubs was smoking because of the brake stuck down. I caged it and when I...

    Accidental boost with NHC250?

As I was told to “stop it”, I am going to stick to regular diesel, but has anyone got experience with boosting compression ration mixing in non combustible synthetic turbine oil? It gave quite a hill climb ability to the old NHC250 although it almost hydrolocked it at 3 quarts of turbine oil per...

    Slipped tire chamber/valve under rim

So I went to the beach and lowered my tire pressures, and maybe too much for the inner tires (newbiiiie). After powering through a couple dunes now some of the valves are shifted and unaccessible or outright slipped under the rim. I suppose there is no easy way to undo that other than take it...

Limited slip differential on my M-923?

When I put the M-923 on jacks, the front wheel will turn some freely and then feel a slight tug from the differential to make a click/clunk and then turn freely again for about a quarter turn etc. Also my rear wheels, when making sharp turns, even on dirt, seem to make cluncky noise and bounce...

    M-923 start's uphill longer

When the truck is parked on a slight uphill incline, it seems to take a bit longer to start and it will do a small rev up and down and back to normal. Parked on a horizontal lot, it starts just fine. I suspect maybe I need to change the fuel filter at least? Maybe something else is up?
