    Fire Dept Needs Help

Both batteries tested as OK. We tried the ignition switch a few minutes ago and it powered on, but there was a definite electrical "sizzle" in the circuit breaker area behind the passenger dash.

    Fire Dept Needs Help

Good afternoon. Our volunteer fire department has a M1078. One of our folks left the ignition switch on, and of course that killed the battery. We use two 12-volt batteries to power the truck. They were disconnected and charged separately; however in the process, the charger was put on the...

    Turn Signal Issue

Hello everybody. Our M1078 A0 is having intermittent issues with turn signal lights not operating properly. Tried swapping out relays and trying to see if there may be a short, but so far, no luck. The right front signal seems to be the one that does what it pleases. Any tech savvy folks...

Convoy light installed and source for a light if needed.

Maybe contact North American Signal. The info is in my original post. They were the supplier, and sent the correct connector with mine.

No need to worry. It's a fire department owned vehicle.

Convoy light installed and source for a light if needed.

Found the supplier for the magnetic mount Convoy Light that sits on the cab roof. This company built them for the S and S and BAE trucks. Our truck has the cannon two pin connector on the rear cab wall. They normally come in amber, but they were able to get us a red lens. They come with LED...

    Running temp for an LMTV

I drove our 1997 M1078 about 4 hours in about 80 degree weather and I don't think it got much over 200. Fan cut in and out and kept things pretty consistent.

If you're driving it back, pack a lunch. That was a looong ride home. 54 or 55 is all I could get out of it. :p We had to buy 2 batteries for ours before we left the yard. Have since converted it to a 2 battery system.

Any M1078 Guru's Near Tidewater, VA

I was hoping to see if there are any military folks or shops that work on the M1078 type of trucks. Our fire department has a few issues that we need addressed, but unfortunately, not many folks in our community that can work on them. Hoping to find someone or a place in North Eastern NC or...

    A0 or A1?

Good stuff. I was wondering the same about our 97 M1078. It has the hand throttle.

New Guy From Eastern North Carolina

Hello all. Glenn from the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Our fire department picked up a 1997 S&S M1078. It is in very good shape. Our department doesn't have any members that served in the modern military, so we're at a disadvantage on the ins and outs of the M1078. I'll probably have a...
