Maryland State Inspection- HMMWV registered as an AM General Pickup

First, your registered here as a PA resident, and asking a nefarious question to circumvent a Maryland law. You've been told by Maryland officials the inspection station to go to, but yet you ask SS members how to "get past" the inspection. Respectfully, We have enough issues with Humvee's here...

X-Door weather seals - Removal & Install tips

Bravojmc, If you've ever had to re-furbish the Armored X-doors you'll find out that the bottom weather strip channels are hammered together so tight that the rubber weather strip is impossible to pull out. This is caused by taking the doors off and dropping them on the bottoms. You'll have to cut...

X-Door weather seals - Removal & Install tips

Have replaced many door weather strips on armored doors. They tend to get hammered the most because of the weight of the doors crush the aluminum channel, making it impossible to remove the rubber strip. The tool I've found to work best is a bottle opener with a piece of 1/4" key stock inserted...

    1994 M998A1, Rebuild in Indiana

Also, your push/pull pins should be chained so they cant be taken or easily lost.

    1994 M998A1, Rebuild in Indiana

As 86humv said, your grill guard is not mounted correctly. I could take that off and be gone in 30 seconds. Bottom should be bolted and with castle nuts w/cotter pins. Also helps with the rubber cushions keeping it from rattling around.

How much did you pay for your M998/humvee?

GP sold prices are all listed on their web site. Pull down the SOLD tab, it tells you what every vehicle sold for.

    Slantback b pillar alternative

RWH, I'm with you on the Slants, they suck to drive with no rear visibility and now you have really no usable space in the back. Plus, you better have A/C....you can lead them to water, ya just cant makem' drink!

Anyone taken an X door and made it into a half door?

Lionel, FYI.... I remove all the hardware, window tracks and all, save these items. I use 1-3'4" aluminum angle in place of the window tracks to stiffen the door and re-attach the latch linkage to. You can either bend a cap to cover the top or use a pair of aluminum angles with a 1/4" filler...

Anyone taken an X door and made it into a half door?

Yep, done a set of rears and working on doing a set of fronts. Best way to go on half doors. Looks like AM General made them.

    how wide is the hmmwv?

Do a search on this site. That subject has been rode hard and worn out. You might even find it quite humorous on some creative ways to transport Humvee's.

Point being, can we cease with the trash taking of the Humvee's. This tread has went south, as the Mod said "stay on subject". You want to trash talk start a new thread.
