    Speedometer-challenge

I've got this 76' Chevy K20 pickup, it's a Can. army ex-mil which i've refitted with a TH400 transmission and a np241 (runs great), but the transfercase is from a 92' suburban which has the electrical speedometer, does anybody know a way to make the transfer communicate with my 1976 speedometer...

    Gear/transfer-swap.

Nope, went with the 400, everyone says it is a stronger box, and i'm gonna need just that.

    Gear/transfer-swap.

I'm now rollin', finally. Had to lengthen the rear midaxle, and my speedometer now shows -0 (mechanical/electrical difference between the transfermodels) but the truck is tight as ****. Thanks for all the help and useful tips, you all have my respect and appreciation, but i would not call this...

    Tires

5quad is/was the canadian term for the 76' army chevypickup. It's body looks the same as the american ones except for the headlights, but the setup is a little bit different: 350 V8 gasoline, TH350 gearbox, np203 transfer, dana 44 infront and GM 14bolt rear. What i'm trying to find out is if...

    Tires

I've got this 5quad with 16,5 inch rims, and i'm finding it impossible to get tires in Norway, is it possible to run this truck on 16-inch ones? Oooor, are the brakedrums too big?

    Gear/transfer-swap.

Some local guy told me i could keep the converter, that the effects of the rpm-difference barely will be noticeable.

    Gear/transfer-swap.

Still workin' on it, had to modify my exhaust because of the headers, but now the flex-plate is giving me a headache. As i see it i have two options: Either i can go with the diesel flex-plate and buy a starter that fits (the diesel f-p's got more teeth) Or, i can buy a new converter...

    Gear/transfer-swap.

Yeah, the holes does'nt align. Guess i'll drill new holes in the frame..
  12. nm190

    Gear/transfer-swap.

How did you align the cooler-lines? (their different on the 80's something sub and the fivequad.) Do the stickshift on the transfer fit, or do you have to widen the hole in the floor? There are some electrical outlets on both the transfer and the transmission(400 and 241), what are they for...

    Gear/transfer-swap.

I'm just wrecked my th350 transmission (76' cucv/fivequad), and are planning to swap it with a th400 with a 241 transfer attached to it, troubleshooting? Has anyone in here performed this exact operation?

    Heavy horse..

Right on! The whole trick is to gather speed, and keep it, so when the guns brake their ass off, you lift your right foot a little bit and grin. :) About the faceplants.., they're unavoidable some times, you're driving a vehicle (in my case) whose chassi is carrying approx 10 m-tonnes more...

    would you drive on this?

    Heavy horse..

Sizes It's about 50 metric tonnes, the bridge is 26 meters and can be laid over a gap of 24meters. The loadcarrying weight is Military Load Class 70, that means it can take your main battletanks and also the wolverine(with the bridge on). It's got the 10 cyl, 37.4liter MTU MB 838 CaM 500...

    Bad parts.

Good point Right, but a week after this i managed to split my th350 in half mudding through a wheatfield, followed by a e-mile long drive at full speed.

    New guy from Norway, Europe

Oldie It's canadian, i'm trying to track down its history on mapleleafup.com. It's a 76', that grille/light-setup is very popular in Norway, i've seen lights like that on el caminos, k5's, aso.
