CUCV alternator symptoms, diagnosis and fix.

My starter has burned out two switches (causing flexplate grinding), Gen 1 glows when radio/heater are on, volt meter is almost in red and front battery leaks. After reading this thread I am going to do the checks of the alts and batteries and clean contacts. Is there anything else I should...

    m1009 gauge installation

I would like to do this set up, it looks real clean, but was curious about whether or not the temp reading would be correct. Is it important where the sender is in relation to water flow, before or after radiator?

It's good to here all of this. My 1028 sometimes feels and sounds like I've hit something when the locker acts up. Thought something might be broken.

Also on my 1028 there was a buzz/rattle when I turned w/acceleration (sp?), turned out to be same PS pump bolt loose...

Citrus oil as fuel in 6.2

It is the oil from citrus fruit. The chemical name is d-limonene. It is definately flammable when atomized (hold lighter next to orange peel and squeeze). I didn't see a BTU value on the MSDS, I was comparing vapor pressure, flash point, etc.. Yes it would smell good and yes it would be...

Citrus oil as fuel in 6.2

I wondered if anyone knows if citrus oil/ d-limonene works as fuel in a 6.2. I may have a source for some. Can't seem to find much if any info. MSDS that I have compared show similar numbers to #2 diesel, but I don't really know what I'm looking at. Any help would be great.

Non "Made In China" parts list.

I just had an idea for a list of all known non- "Made In China" parts. I hate having to hunt around town every time I need to replace something. I am always finding references in threads to a part that someone found that wasn't made in china, but rarely do I write it down or remember which...

    M1009 Needs new radiator

Thanks for the link and the info. I'll get to work on a proper flush. As for the original post, I believe I used a Rad Ready from Advanced. About $400 and I had to sand tranny cooler fittings to fit.

    M1009 Needs new radiator

O.K., so how do I remedy this? Drain system, flush w/water or flush product? Thanks for the info, do not want to ruin this truck! I also was reading somewhere that dexcool might eat my head gasket? By the way, I've got the dexcool approved Prestone coolant, it's not actual GM dexcool, don't...

    M1009 engine buzzing

Alright, Doghead motivated me to go take a look. One engine mount looks like it may be makeing contact, so I put a thin piece of carboard between mount and frame, but the noise was still there. Decided to pull the alt. belts, to isolate the ringing/buzzing, noise still there. Went to loosen...

Thank you Doghead, I have checked those as well and both are secure. I have had the loose air filter cover before, that is a bad noise. Thanks again.
