ignition switch Well you seem to be the guy to ask. 85 CUCV- is the ignition switch a special part #? or is the one oreillys sold me for the 6.2 diesel good to go? I have done the dog head starter relay mod. thanks.

Anyone know if the part # for the ignition switch is the same at oreillys? Or does the CUCV use a different one than they give you?

at it again. I got back at it last couple of days. Got it narrowed down to; the lock cylinder, & or the ignition switch. (new switch) The power to everything wont stay on unless i maintain forward pressure on the ignition. The glow plug wait light takes forever to go off, then it will start...

Yes I did that too. I did fuel tank, sending unit, all the rubber sections of fuel line, fuel pump, did spin on filter base, injection pump, injectors, return lines (tygon), glow plugs. Lots more but thats what i did in relation to fuel system. My problem has to be electrical.

I think you may have helped me solve my problem. I did check the plug in on the ignition switch, its good. However, I think it is the lock cylinder. Its loose. I drove the truck a year before it started cutting out. It started after i replaced ignition switch and to be honest i didnt pay much...

Well, found a loose ground, fixed it. It started, it ran. Now it wont start again. Parking it before I just loose it and light it on fire. Guess it will sit all winter.

JD do you have a part number for the prestolite alternator. The guy at the parts store was clueless when i told him about it.

Oh man that makes total sense. I replaced the ignition switch awhile back but i dont think the rod is right, i thought it was for the turn signal and ignored it. I will take it apart and put it in right, thanks so much. I'll let you guys know.

Key/ lock/ Ignition cylinder doesnt make good contact, i have to wiggle it and or hold it forward without going far enough to turn truck over. If i do, truck wont start. If i turn key forward till there is pressure, glow plugs/ wait light come on, then truck will start. Anyone run into this before?

I am back. I replaced the IP with a new one. And the cold idle advance. That makes almost the entire fuel system. New injectors too. Finally realized it might be a short to ground. When I start it, if i step on the brake peddle, it cuts out, not dies out, cuts off, like it has to do with brake...

Yes it was dying out and the return valve was the first thing we all thought it might be, i cleaned it and only thought, it might be quieter. It for sure was shifting smoother. No doubt on that. Though some argued over shift points and what not. I tried to get a new return valve with the local...

That is some funny stuff!

Now it takes forever to start, once it does, it runs for awhile, it will stall out when slowing, sometimes when just sitting idleing. Once its warm, after it stalls out, it starts easily. God only knows.

New control card, GPR still wont close to heat glow plugs. New temp sensor too. Checked yellow wire to temp sensor nothing wrong with it that i can tell. Did manual ground switch, truck now starts, drives a block or two, then cuts out. Its like the IP is shutting off, happens when its well...

Any one know what this is. both the sticky on GP controller and the card say "relay" on it. It is not the small blue wire that is on the small post on my GPR. This big blue wire is not connected to anything and it is in the same bunch as the wires that go to the temp switch/relay/control card...
