Ok kewl thought so.....that red wire should have what for volts?

I looked on the tm for the charging wiring and notice off of the second generator that thwe negative lead has some sort of ground with a "suppessor"? Mine only has a big red wire going to it......is that strange or does everyone elses only have one wire on the negative post of the second alt?

If you drive on the highway i notice you get considerably better mileage, just yesterday i did a 60 mile trip down to the cape and burned a little less than 3 gallons. On the other side i off road mine alot and i figured the mileage while beating on the truck to be around 9 mpg eeeek

I drive mine daily mostly highway 55-60 and mine has a little over 100k still amazing for the year :D

I'm really interested in the glow plug as a fuel heater idea? Kinda curios how to wire it....I have almost unlimited access to glow plugs, wiring, ect.

Really? any idea on how that works? Like what sized resistor or what voltage 12v or 24v?

i did it too today very easy and very cheap but any ideas on a universal fuel heater to screw in the other ports (i got a 4 port napa 4770) or the water in fuel light ?

I wanted to do this for a while now, not another tank just blend a mixture to make it a bit cheaper a week. 4 dollars a gallon is killing me, so you just add a fuel heater and just add a 50/50 mixture? Is there any extra filters you run? Your setup is the exact thing i wanna do if yours works...

So.tryed that wire thing didn't work at all lol worked in my camaro lol idk ill try a couple more things......any ideas what to check next?

Yea I already did the test at the 2 wire plug, big red yeilds 24v and the brown wire nothing key on and off, so I checked the back of the gauge cluster and there is 24v on one side of the light is that normal? As for the tech manuals all I have for internet is my phone which the tech manuals do...

my gen 2 light has never gone on since i got the truck a few months ago and the second battery rear battery never gets charged so i started testing things, what should i look for because the back of the gauge has 24 volts?

so today im gonna get the voltmeter outta the cluster and see if there is voltage across the terminals if there is, do i replace this 300 ohm resistor? and where is the resistor in the gauge?

Soooo wicked funny story went to check that 12 volt at the alt and it was 24 volts:shock:........so i followed the wiring back to the what looked like the glow plug relay :shock: so i connect what was left of the wire to the 12 volt common power, the light went out but the guage still reads nothing

I have all the tool, and im downloading the manuals now........but the voltmeter doesnt read anything either?

my gen 1 light has been on for a long time so i replaced my drivers side gen......light is still on whats wrong?
