    Glow Plug Relay Wire Corrosion

Thanks for the pointer Warthog. I was looking in the unit maintenance TM. Hadn't dug into the intermediate direct support TM yet. Looks like another evening of paging ahead! So since I knew it was not something that was going to 'pop' or connected to some capacitor I didn't know about I was...

    Glow Plug Relay Wire Corrosion

So as I mentioned in another thread, I have a troubled history with auto electrical so I'm treading carefully on everything here. I've replace the farthest front and back battery cable terminals with their original eyelet-style versions since all terminals are pretty banged up. I'm replacing the...

Any advantage to separate volt gauge for each battery

Thanks Rich, that's what I thought but I have a long and troubled history with automotive electrical so it's good confirmation. So IF the voltmeter is bad I'll wire directly into positive on each battery and ground it and all should be well.

Any advantage to separate volt gauge for each battery

I've got a failing voltmeter right now so that was my original reason for seeing that batteries are not at the same state of charge during normal idle with my DMM. After reading the operators manual I ran through the sticky thread on the fuse box and checked all the fuses in the system. All are...

Any advantage to separate volt gauge for each battery

Sounds good. I'll leave this mod for a future wish list. No need to add work when I've got enough on my plate already.

Any advantage to separate volt gauge for each battery

So doghead, do you see any advantage to having 2 voltage gauges in place of the single combined guage and 2 gen idiot lights?

Any advantage to separate volt gauge for each battery

Saw that in the original thread. Was wondering if it's split one for each battery. What connection did you use for the starter/gp only battery?

    Interstate Batteries on sale

Gosh darn it! I just bought 2 new Bosch batteries for more than that on Sunday. Ah well...

Any advantage to separate volt gauge for each battery

I understand that the stock voltage gauge monitors both batteries. When I watched individual battery status with my multi-meter (with spanking new batteries) I saw that the charging level was different between the two. My google foo is failing me because after looking through various threads I...

Finally rolling with my 1984 M1009

So after 2 years of the old girl sitting behind the house, starting it with a jump and letting it warm up once a month, I finally got the title and historic tags for her and picked up some batteries. Funny thing is that after 2 years it never failed to start with a jump UNTIL I was ready...

    The last F-4 departs Davis-Monthan

And is about the loudest jet I've ever heard! I was in Greece doing cross training back in the day and they were running them along with F16's. You always know it's a Phantom.

    M1009 Cargo Management

I've been to several sniper matches where various LE agencies participated and they had these mounted in the back of trucks and SUVs. They are very solid and take a serious beating. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I could afford it. One had the low profile version with a K9 enclosure mounted on top...

    M1009 Cargo Management

For my '09 I'm planning something similar but the idea's not fully fleshed out just yet. I'm going el-cheapo though and purchasing either 8" or 10" PVC pipes, cap them and strap them to the floor by bolting a few loops in the right places. That way I can set up for a range vehicle when I travel...

I think they got this from IKEA

All that engineering and common sense in one place and not a computer to be found. Better days.. I wonder how many of those cases are at the bottom of the Atlantic, victims of U-boats.

    Synthetic WMO for a 6.2?

Thanks very much both for the advice here and for putting your knowledge online on the other forum. It helps out a lot.

    Synthetic WMO for a 6.2?

So after reading this reply I found this thread on another forum: http://beyondbiodiesel.org/forum/index.php?topic=140.0 Hey I've sean that mug shot before! So once I sell my car I plan to run the M1009 as a daily driver for as long as possible. I don't have the house in Raleigh yet so I'm...

    Synthetic WMO for a 6.2?

Thanks, so it looks like I'd be PROBABLY good to go if I stick with WMO that is strictly synthetic motor oil, not other kinds of synthetic waste oil. Interesting. Enter at your own risk...

    Synthetic WMO for a 6.2?

So I've seen crystallization referred to in a few threads but nothing definitive and most of those are older threads. Is synthetic WMO a viable option? It will be going in a 6.2L (1009) and be mixed with other WMO.

My CUCV spin on fuel filter mod

Thanks everyone for a great thread. I'm getting ready to do this mod on my 84 M1009. Couple quick questions though: 1) I'm going with the WIX 24770 base but I'm not sure about which filter to use. I plan to run 60/40 Diesel/WMO starting soon. Can I still use the 3 micron 33005 (NAPA 3005) or...
