    m1009 vacuum hose

Revisiting an ancient post to provide specific answers based on the TM's. All item numbers are based on figure 10 in the -20P parts manual. Hose #4 in figure 10, between the vacuum pump and the "T" fitting, #3, is 11/32" I.D. and is 2" long. (I use 3/8" fuel line without issue) Hose #5 in...

    6.2L fuel leak

I have had very good luck with Badger Diesel. Going on 5 years and the truck is running strong. He rebuilds them to current spec and IIRC highest output (unless you ask for something less). I actually had a hard time determining my replacement IP was a rebuild it was so clean. Great luck...

Mystery wire near heater switch on m1009 ???

Yes, those 3 bulbs are the "dash lights". If the printed circuit is too far gone you can buy a new replacement. Search for part number 25053623. One of mine had too many broken traces and was too delicate after 30+ years sitting in the sun. Installed a new one and have not looked back.

Mystery wire near heater switch on m1009 ???

As Rick stated, more detailed images would be helpful, and the previous owner(s) did not do you any favors with the wiring. A quick guess based on apparent wire diameter, color (gray) and location would be the 24V voltmeter light positive feed. GM used a button type brass connector which...

    Gear Vendors Overdrive it is

Gear Vendors 4x4 Lockout Issue Resolved Resurrecting an old thread since I don't believe the issue with getting the 4x4 lockout feature to function properly on the Gear Vendors in a CUCV has ever been addressed. RESOLUTION: The +12V feed to the overdrive computer must be connected to a source...

    M1009 headlight options?

I originally started by wiring up my own dedicated headlight harness. I did this because one of my trucks had the dreaded melted fuse box around the headlight circuit when I bought it. Low beam headlights were only 35 watts and high beams were also lower at the time our trucks were made if I...

    Vaccum pump for 6.2l

Vacuum Pump Alternatives I'll start by stating I am NOT endorsing any of the approaches I am listing below. These are options I am exploring but have not yet tested. Proceed at your own risk  NAPA still lists two "rebuilt" pumps (call store for availability):Delphi "DEM NLVP1697" - 1...

The Sequential Four Ball Test Drew Troyer Tags: oil analysisUse it to Evaluate AW / EP Performance The plant oil analyst is responsible for ensuring the continued effectiveness of lubricants in service and is often involved in the lubricant selection process. In the case of antiwear (AW)...

Need a mechanic in Los Angeles to fix gen 2 and battery drain problem.

Suggest to make certain he fully understands the hybrid 12/24V systems on these trucks.

    Injection Pump Replacement

100% agree with the advice you have so far received. I (and others on this site) have had good experiences with Badger Diesel in WI. They do great rebuild work and unless you specify otherwise will provide you with a unit tuned to maximum output.

    Bolt-on frame boxing

Glad this is helpful. There is a ton of misinformation in the world. Happy that I am doing my small part to dispel it where possible. This exact same debate runs high in the Dodge world as well for what that is worth. As for fluids, I would always go with what the latest recommendation is...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

If you do run it like this, please make certain you do not run it dry before the leak is repaired. All the best!

    Bolt-on frame boxing

You are absolutely correct that things change. What we call gear oil today and what it was 75 years ago are not at all the same. The API has three current and three discontinued (as of 1995) grades of gear lubricant as it is more appropriately called. If you use a GL-5 rated oil in an...

    Bolt-on frame boxing

So, let's start with your first "ASSUMPTION". You are flat out incorrect. 'nuff said on that point. But, ASS-U-ME away if you must :-P. This whole discussion is about wear protection. So please, do not insinuate that I am stating anything less than "wear protection is required". Honda...

    Bolt-on frame boxing

There have been many instances where a manufacturer has specified motor oils for manual transmissions. Many many motorcycles share not only their oil sump and gear box, but their clutches are "wet bath" sharing the same lubricant as the engine. Not sure if you have ever seen this regarding...

    Bolt-on frame boxing

Sorry, I have to disagree with a number of these points. 1. No synchronized transmissions shift gears to my knowledge. Instead they engage a synchronizer (typically a cone type device that couples the gear to the appropriate shaft in the transmission made of a much softer sacrificial...

    Bolt-on frame boxing

Because I am NOT stating that. My exact quote is: "So, hope that provides everyone with a better understanding of why ATF is a suitable lubricant for a gear based NP205, but why gear oil is not suitable for use in an automatic transmission." Suggest we all read these postings a little more...

    Bolt-on frame boxing

I think these are great questions. Unfortunately I know I don't have the specific answers and none of us really can know without some form of communication with the manufacturer/engineers at the time (which would include documentation from them). Clearly GM AND New Process/New Venture...
