Thanks for the information. I just read through the Field and Depot Maintenance Manuals for the PRC-25 and PRC-77 and came to the conclusion it is not worth the effort to remove the front panel, just do as you suggest and just take off the knobs and cover over the various parts. The PRC-25...
I found the past post on the surface preparation, priming and painting. All great information.
ref: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?68273-refinishing-a-PRC-77/page1
So the missing part is how to remove the front panel from the PRC-77 set. I would prefer to take off all the front...
I have some PRC-77/PRC-25 that I want to restore and replace some of the front panel parts. I have three PRC-77 that are in working condition (receive/transmit). I would like to remove the front panels, disconnect all the knobs and switches and do a restoration cleaning/painting of the front...
Canadian Bombardier Iltis
Bonjour Guerre,
You should look seriously at the Bombardier Iltis. Lots in New Brunswick, and some are currenlty for sale on Kijiji. There is an excellent Iltis group on Yahoo with all sorts of members from Canada and a great source of information. The Bombardier...
PRC-127 vs PRC-68 line of radios.
The PRC-127 is not in the same "family" as the PRC-68. It is a more modern "non-tactical" radio, in the line of a handi-talkie.... The PRC-127 is designed to use AA batteries in a Clam-Shell battery case.
PRC-127, PRC-127A
PRC-68 Family of Radios
There is...
Good solution to a common problem. I would suggest a few improvements. Not sure if the cigarette DC plug has a fuse, but it is good practice to put an in-line fuse to protect the radio in the case of a short.
I would also suggest the use of some Anderson Power Pole connectors on the DC line...
Radio installation manuals for Iltis
The picture in the post is from my 1985 Bombardier Iltis. I have both RT-524 and PRC-25 in that unit with dual whips. If you are interested, I have all the Iltis manuals and the modification manuals with radio installation instruction for the various...
AS-1729/VRC antenna MX-6707/VRC and CB
Crapgame:
You can use your CB on the AS-1729/VRC antenna system in your Iltis. Just set the ATU (MX-6707/VRC) to 30-33 MHz range using the knob at the base of the MX-6707/VRC. If you have an inline SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) meter, you will see that will be...
Need M101 CND2 power cable with trailer connector
Nice set-up. Where did you get the tire winch and crank from? I would like to try the same set-up. I just picked up a second M101 CND2 1/4 ton trailer to use with my Iltis collection. Still snow on the ground, but it was just above freezing...
Mounting spare tires on M101 CDN2 trailer
The M101 CDN2 Yahoo group has some photo file folders with samples of methods to mount spare tires on the M101 CDN2 trailer.
Lots of options:
There are NOS Bombardier Iltis tire mounts available from Iltis dealers, that can be mounted on the front or...

How about adding a Canadian Issue section to the Non-US Military area. I have a Bombardier Iltis 1/4 ton jeep that I would like to make some posts on. The Canadian Bombardier Iltis were manufactured in Canada during 1985/86 when Canada purchased the license from VW. There were about 2,200...
I am looking for two technical manuals for the RT-524 transceiver.

They are on the LOGSA site, but I do not have access (both manuals are password protected)

I have an RT-524 that receives OK, but the transmit is...
