M35a2 Hub Flip Tips and Lessons Learned

The cheap 12 ton HF press is worth its weight in gold for this job. Plus, the bottle jack from it, is a nice manageable size (with a couple of 6x6 blocks that double as wheel chocks). I do recommend some good 6 ton jack stands, I put them on a couple of 2x6 scraps to keep them from sinking in...

    Engine chatter

I had a weird clatter today for just a second, I was about to turn up a steep section of road. I "blipped" (bumped) the throttle (with the clutch in) just before letting the clutch out, and instead of any exhaust reply, it sounded like a momentary tire to louver, or like the rapid clicking you...

How do you change PTO boots?

Thanks Welder, the TM pics are good, showing the finished product and/or where things go, but when it says to install boot with a wooden block (if i recall) it leaves a lot to ponder. Skill and experience, lots of patients and head scratching... I thought the lip of the boot was held in by a...

How do you change PTO boots?

Thanks Frank and Rusty, my seals are good, but one of the dust boots is coming apart. It would be nice to be able to grease up a new boot and carefully work it into the groove between the seal and shaft, to keep dirt out.

How do you change PTO boots?

I know this is several years old, but I am reading that the boots on the pto could be installed without draining fluids and removing shaft/linkage..?

    Safe boost?

So with 3/4 turn on the screw, she fired right up with no pedal. After warming up, I am now making 11 pounds of boost and 1000* unloaded, 5th gear 2200 rpm on a very modest grade. (up from 6-7 and 900*) Pulls much better from lower rpm, and made a nice difference between 3rd and 4th when...

What's an M35A2 worth these days?

If I ever get power steering on it... I will have to put it in my will to one of my kids. As long as I can still get the wheels or drums on and off by myself, I'm gonna do my best to keep it.

What's an M35A2 worth these days?

I know I'm not dumping a couple yards of gravel in a 60K$ truck... I know mine sits outside, as most do, and "knock on wood", it has no hail dents. These new "beer can" trucks get dented by butterflies. I enjoy mine, I don't make her a "swamp donkey", but it's not a "parade queen". So it's...

What's an M35A2 worth these days?

I was at "big box store", while I was loading 5 full blue carts full of building materials, and getting the usual looks and comments, one guy kept asking lots of questions, so as a joke, I told him "for 15K$ you can take it home".... he whips out his phone and said "give me your number". I still...

What's an M35A2 worth these days?

OK so... What about one with LOTS of goodies... No rust, original OD paint job, Hard top, Winch, 395 xzls on MRAP wheels, AMV lockout hubs, new factory rebuild LDT D turbo, fuel still set from factory, new clutch air switch transfer case, heater under the dash, (coolant filter installed)...

Had a little fun with my brothers tractor today.

I guess it could work, IF it's close to the size of the original tire... If not, it would mess up if you use 4x4 on the tractor.

    My new ride

    Safe boost?

I know I had seen "something"... plus my probe is 2" from the turbo, so 75-100*....!!! (for normal cruise) and almost identical at "work". I can handle that. THANK YOU....!!!! Now I wonder what his boost numbers were running.

    Safe boost?

I have heard, that someone was going to put a pre and post "dual" egt system on the same engine. and "settle this once and for all". (although its always an LDS or LDT with a C turbo). Has anyone found the actual temp delta, pre vs post, on a 465 D turbo? My short test run hitting 900* (post)...

    Safe boost?

My replacement engine is right out of the can (92 refurb Toole). I even have a print out of the dyno (somewhere) the FDC came bypassed already (in the can), and feels like they turned the fuel WAY down. Now with new pyro/boost, I am seeing MAX 6lbs and 900* @ 2200rmp (post turbo). I plan...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I really think they shipped a 3mm ferrule... it's just "that close". (frustrating as ....) Bought a 1/8" ferrule and it fit perfect.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I got my exhaust back on, pyro hooked up and tapped, but for the LIFE of me, I can NOT get the tiny brass ferrule to fit over the boost tube... I cant feel my fingers anymore. Are there any tips or tricks to get this little sucker on....? I'm about to get the dremel out and go nuts... (help)

    New J Pipe is HERE...!!!

WOW... I looked for a while, but this stuff comes and goes pretty quick. Hopefully it will last a little while. I got it all cut down and ready to start the painting process. It seems to fit really well (now) and tucks up a bit higher in the fender well. Those little U shaped fender covers...

    New J Pipe is HERE...!!!

    $165 I believe.

    New J Pipe is HERE...!!!

And just like I expected, I had to take a couple inches out of the middle, it would have never fit the elbow and flex. I just cut off 2" including the flange, another 2", tacked the end on and test fit, then welded it up. With my little HF wire welder, I realized just how much I suck at welding....
