My truck tried to start itself!?

Starting issues part III I FINALLY got everything done and something roached one of the glow plug wires!? (right side closest to the firewall) I installed the doghead relay, new glow plug solenoid, new glow plugs and I discovered the controller card was already in the truck so I reconnected...

My truck tried to start itself!?

OK thank you. Now the only other question I have is should I have power to both sides all the time or only when the key is in the start position? I greatly appreciate the help.

My truck tried to start itself!?

I was snapping those 2 relays back into place before I went and disconnected the batteries again before I reinstalled all 3 relays under the dash. I guess I must have hit it but which fusible link coincides with that? I checked 11 fusible links I was able to find but there is 1 I'm...

My truck tried to start itself!?

OK thank you Warthog I'll have to look at those things. The battery cables seem ok but who knows really. It looks like whatever "sparked" was enough to blow the starter! I can't believe that if something shorts the starter goes!? This is gonna be the fifth starter I get for this!

My truck tried to start itself!?

Both batteries are at 12 volts. When I put the 2 relays in next to the doghead I heard a "spark" but it's all plastic so I don't know what it might have been.

My truck tried to start itself!?

Starter issues part II Well after doing the doghead relay and replacing the starter I got about one round of starting and I'm back to click click click!?!? What are the 2 relays that sit next to the doghead relay? I've checked the fuses which the only one that is questionable is 12 which...

My truck tried to start itself!?

Well I did the doghead mod & went from turning the key and getting nothing to turning the key & getting click. I checked the fuses and they were ok so I dropped the starter to reach the terminals and I'm not getting anything to the starter. Where else are there fusible links? I HATE electric!

My truck tried to start itself!?

The other day my girlfriend went to start my 1009 and she said when she turned the key it made like a whining sound. She turned the key back off and took it out of the ignition. When she got out of the truck the truck started cranking by itself. Has anyone heard of this?? Does it mean the...

Welcome to the community. I just picked up an M1009 myself down here in the Albany area, but looked all over for one myself before I bought mine. Cool trucks!
