Why are the GL Deuces from Texas so beat?

National Guard trucks around here can get pretty beat up. The NG help the US Border Patrol out a lot, especially during times of high traffic. I'm in some pretty tough country where I live and my M35 loves it, I put it to work every week. But west of me near Laredo, Del Rio, and especially out...

    Battery?

One of the battery's on my M35 is not holding a 12V charge, within 1 minute of charging it drops down to 10.2 and stays there. Just low enough so the truck won't start. What types of battery's are yall getting to replace them that might be available at a decent shop for a price that won't blow...

    MV security

I built something to lock out the fuel kill switch. Took a 1/8"x1.5" flat bar and bent it into a tight U shape, then it just slides over the rod when it's pulled out and I stick a trailer lock pin to secure it, it also blocks the master power switch. Also, I use the steering wheel chain; and...

    Hauling a deuce

Equipment and experience is the key. I towed my Deuce from Oklahoma City down to South Texas, about 750 miles, with my 08 F-350 dually on a dual tandem 40' gooseneck. A single wheel 3/4 ton would be a little lite for a Deuce, the extra tires on a dually make a significant difference with the...

Cold Start Switch on lower left dash

RE: Re: Cold Start Switch on lower left dash I've got the same switch on my truck, and I've got one question. I've read the TM's and know what you only move it to on when the engine is being cranked. Does your switch stay in the on position, or do you have to hold it there? Mine just springs...

I got pulled over in my Deuce

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: I got pulled over in my Deuce Believe it or not when I lowered it on the truck it dropped one side about an inch. That pit easily weights over 2500lbs. That's not going the be the final position on the truck, I'm going to move it forward about 2 feet and about a foot and a...

I got pulled over in my Deuce

RE: Re: RE: Re: I got pulled over in my Deuce Here's a picture of my "alternative use" for the truck when it's not working on my ranch. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e10/Shock884/DSCF0303.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e10/Shock884/DSCF0301.jpg

I got pulled over in my Deuce

RE: Re: I got pulled over in my Deuce Just to clarify I didn't get pulled over because the truck said Military Police. This happens all the time when I drive a truck they haven't seen down the road my ranch is on. I got pulled over 4 times right after I got my motorcycle, something about a...

I got pulled over in my Deuce

RE: Re: I got pulled over in my Deuce It's not like I put it there on the door. It's not obvious, especially at night. We were both a little amused about it. I have friends in just about every area of law enforcement around here so I'm not really too worried about getting in too much trouble.

I got pulled over in my Deuce

I went to go get some diesel at 1 AM, and on my to town from my ranch a set of headlights appeared behind me and followed me for about 10 miles. Finally I just pulled over myself just before I got to the highway. Turned out to be a Border Patrol Agent, he walked up looking about as confused as a...

    Waste Oil Prices

I'm getting it free down here. A buddy of mine owns a truck fleet at the windmill farms they're building. Right now I've got over 200 gallons waiting for me. From what I've heard most of the places down here have to pay to have it hauled off, so they are happy when you can take it for free.

    Hauling a m35a2

There is a 10k limit in TX also for non-CDL drivers. Trailers registered at farm trailers are allowed to tow 20k if it's for farm equipment. If I would have been stopped I would have said the deuce is my new "off-road recovery vehicle" for my ranch, they couldn't have done anything about it.

    Is my Winch broke?

The deep slot on the winch lock is the locked setting, the shallow is unlocked. It's the first sew steps in these instructions: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/modules/PNphpBB2/files/ops_3_950.jpg

    Will this filter WMO?

I understand what yall are saying. I did find a good filter set-up at McMaster Carr, thanks for that. Can anyone recommend a good pump that isn't too expensive?

    Hauling a m35a2

I just hauled my Deuce 750 miles with my 2008 F-350. Didn't have any issues with the truck or trailer. The trailer needs to have brakes on every axle and a GVWR of at least 20k. Needs to be a good wide trailer too, filled mine up from side to side.

thinking about buying a Deuce , need some advice

From what I've read you don't need a CDL to drive a Deuce..............except for California.

    Will this filter WMO?

Re: RE: Will this filter WMO? It wouldn't be to hard to seal the top drum and install a metal valve stem. Could connect it to my air tank and keep it at 10 psi. What I really need to know is if this will filter the oil well enough.
