So, pulled a dumbass 939 series rookie move. The dipstick on the 931 a 2 I just picked up today was about halfway between full and add so I decided to top it off. Looked at the overall capacity but, like a dumbass, didn't read the freaking dipstick that said add 2 quarts at the low mark. I added...
Ok need clarification/updated info. 1980 M916 - Lube order says (best I can tell) straight 30 weight oil. Is that STILL good info or is there something better for the Cummins NTC 400?
Actually found a better option. Gonna pick up a 2" Holland 5th wheel on the way to pick up the trailer. I will keep that option in mind for the futrue though if I end up needing the adapter. Thanks so much to all who offered suggestions!
Crap, any other source that you know of? Know anything about this place in the UK? https://ucukltd.com/store/body-and-chassis-parts/king-pins-and-components/a0858-king-pin-adaptor-2-to-3-5
Thanks for the reply and pic. So, if the trailer looked like that as far as tilt, would that be ok to do for a recovery just to get it home and then maybe look at using a lower profile 5th wheel or something (provided that there are no clearence issues during a turn)?
Hi, in the market for a truck to pull my m129a3 trailer and was looking at all the tms I could find to determine if an M916 is too tall (5th wheel height) to haul an M129a3. Haven't been able to find data on the 5th wheel height for that or an m818. For the trailer, it lists the "upper 5th...
WIth respect to the clutch concern, with the deuce "officially" rated for 10k, reality being much more, everything I've ever seen on SS seems to support that it will do twice as much without a problem. If I use the "7 speed" shift pattern rather than 5, wouldn't that help the clutch?
Forgot to mention that the upper 5th wheel plate height (on the trailer), LOADED is 3'10" and my truck, with 11.00s on it stands about 3'3.5" at the top of the frame rails. The height of the 5th wheel hitch and plate, flat and accounting for the brackets is 16-16.5". Does that make it too tall...
Thanks for your input. The trip is just over 500 miles. Forgot to mention that I could also pick up a civilian converter dolly, pobably have to do some rebuild/repair as they are listed as such or for parts. They are 10 bud wheels so can I put military 5 ton (10 bud 11.00) wheels on it? I...
Need y'alls advice/knowledge/expertise/opinions. Gotta pick up an M129 and get it from WI to MI. Have two different scenarios, being that the 5 ton tractor I was planning to borrow/use is suddenly out of commission. Neither of which are ideal, to be sure but here they are:
1 - Take the bed...
Hoping that someone sees this fast and is able to help. Can I swap my non-working old style tail light from my deuce for a tail light off my m1082 lmtv trailer that says "12 volt" on the back if I put new 24v bulbs in it? I believe all the blackout lights are LED anyway. Will the rest of the...
Can any of you fine individuals assist me with identifying this spring that came with my deuce in one of a couple of unlabeled random Parts bags? Any chance it's the parking brake arm spring? Doesn't look like the diagrams in the TMS or parts list but that's where I happen to have a spring...
