New M-1083 owner. So, here we go!!

It's a good idea to replace or rebuild the compressor for sure. I can tell you that NAPA will not be able to get that compressor very quickly. It's an oddball and they will contact the supplier and they will find that it's "build to order" and you might be waiting a bit for one. You could pull...

I've never noticed any difference. I don't regularly use my battery disconnect - pretty much only if I'm doing electrical work, etc. I do drive my truck almost every day but it has also sat for weeks and had no issues. The transmission behavior is always the same. YMMV - my truck has the 3700SP...

Interesting. I hadn't heard that specifically. I was under the impression they should be changed annually unless in a pretty dry environment. Pretty wet here in Oregon so I did mine at one year..... kinda hyper sensitive after the original cartridge from 2008 destroyed my compressor.

The newer A1R trucks use the Haldex N50011H The benefit is easier/faster servicing. The drawback is the cartridge price - it's about $100 a year. Literally though - it takes like 15 minutes to service. Really convenient.

This kind of foolishness is why reprogramming the module is the way to go. You can tell it what to do instead of trying to fool it into doing sort-of what you want. 🤦‍♂️ As evidenced by you being able to hit 80 psi in the tires it shouldn't be a concern even with the warning about the A0's...

85 for highway and leave the others alone. Make sure you have newish tires if you are going to use any setting other than highway. Anything over 10 years old just don't deflate them and start looking for replacements. These tires are VERY flexible and designed to run low pressure (at low speed)...

Will can do them. So can I and several other people. There are no limitations to the settings. You can program any setting to any pressure you want, and program the speed lockouts to any speed you want. Within the ranges supported by the controller anyway - the settings are not specific to...

You can program the CTIS to whatever HWY pressure you want or have it done by a member of the forum. I set mine to 85 psi. You just need a J1939 adapter and a laptop - the Dana diagnostic software is free on their web site.

Generally the governors are set to 125 on these trucks. Looks a little low. Get an actual Haldex one that's adjustable. The Bendix one's that are non-adjustable suck. I had a Bendix non-adjustable unit on there for a while and it was causing rapid cycling when cold. After a short drive it would...

If you haven't rebuilt your dryer do so immediately. Mine had never been serviced and it destroyed my air compressor.

Sounds like you're on the right track. Spray it down with soapy water while you make it hiss?

I've read that just filing it was all that was required. The expansion tank is so much higher than the system it should basically burp itself.

MRAP = "Mine Resistant Ambush Protected" and refers to a classification of vehicles for which there are three general categories (I, II, and III) based on weight, size, and number of axles and currently there are over 50 variants. So it fits *something* in the MRAP world presumably with a...

New M-1083 owner. So, here we go!!

That's the 260 unit. It's an "alternative" in the sense that is the alt they upgraded to with the A1R and LTAS trucks, but it's not a simple bolt-on. I don't believe it fits the 100a bracketry, and I know for SURE they changed the shock tower mount dramatically to accommodate the alternator but...

The end-bell of the Niehoff alternators is potted. You might be able to TIG weld a bolt or a tapered bit of all-thread to it in combination with some clever heat sinking and allowing to cool between short intervals of welding. It's not likely to ever have the strength it should have for this...

The "fuse link" at the alternator studs was specified to be removed from the platform over 20 years ago. See page 3 of PS Magazine 569 from April of 2000: http://psmag.radionerds.com/images/a/a4/PS_Magazine_Issue_569_April_2000.pdf You *did* replace the fuse link with a washer to prevent...

PVT Snuffy strikes again! I have found plenty of that on my truck - a 2008 with 1500 miles on it. My grid heater was wired to the 12v side of the LBCD. Just recently found that my air intake elbow at the turbo was on backwards. Had my truck a year and still finding PVT Snuffy's calling cards.
