Wiper Linkage
cpf240, that's exactly what I did to get mine to move more smoothly and faster. The linkage, over the years I of neglect, had gotten pretty cruddy between the contacts. Removing the cowl panel and plastic screen will get you right to the linkage where you can clean/lube them. The...
Jeff,
I seriously don't know the name or formula for the color. I bought a gallon of paint at Lowe's a while back, and looking at it under their flourescent lights (big mistake), it looked really close to CARC green. I was surprised and dissappointed at how light it turned out to be but went...
Paint Job, Tagged, and inspected
Finally got around to painting Butterbean a darker green. Close to CARC green, I formulated my own color from one light green and a dark green.
Got my Antique Liscense Plate on, got it inspected today and painted it today. Next move will be new tires and...
Today I cleaned/checked more underhood wiring, replaced fuse on wipers (found a crusty wire that caused the fuse to blow), experimented with more paint. :grd:
Took Butterbean for a short trip to my cousin's house to pick up 12 gallons of WMO for my new drip-feed shop heater (which is a success, by the way). My oldest son and I were headed over and "WHOOOSH...." a big ol' chunk of paint peeled off the passenger mirror.....like ALL the paint on the...
Small fix..........at least they're the right color and not the color of a vegetable like my whole truck! Really though Nick, when we did ours in Desert Storm most were either slapped on with a paint brush or sprayed on with rattle-can paint. I definitely couldn't tell they were crooked in the...
Painted
Got "Butterbean" painted all but the grille/grille guard, and front bumper. Two coats latex on all exterior. Gonna go darker next time. As of now, I have about 36 hrs. and $40 in the paint job.
Paint texture sample Olympic Latex Rolled on 1009
This is a close-up of the texture on my truck after two coats of Olympic Latex Flat (one of their colors, not the original CARC green).
Paint
I was a big spender today! I bought a whole gallon of latex flat exterior paint from Lowe's to paint my 1009! No, it wasn't a CARC formula, I picked it up out of the samples ( I was in a hurry picking up materials to build a porch for a family member. It's a little lighter than what's...
Warning's CUCV
Got the hood today, brought it home and got it cleaned up/primed. After cleanup I realized it's straighter than I initially thought it was. Glad to get it. My old one was bent like crazy with a lot of creases. Enclosing pics of the old camo hood in its new (and probably final)...
Rust repair (kinda) pic
At some time in its' life my 1009 had a battery leak down onto the inner fender well and rot about a 6"X8" hole. I'm not one to call NPD or LMC and order new metal when 95% of this one is still good. SO....I cut and ground out the bad rust, primed the area, and cut...
Looking great! The top of MY cab looks like someone did a rain dance on it or used it as a scaffold. Gotta get those dents out somehow before I can paint it. Keep up the good work and keep us posted with pics of the progress!
