So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

You could go as far as removing the nut all together. The EGT will get a bit hot on the long pulls though.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

I have found the quickest way to get that screw out is to drill off just the head with a 1/4 drill bit. Then there should be enuf threads to grab with pliers or vise grips to take out. It's a coarse thread 4mm bolt, but cant remember the length(around 20mm long). There are quite a few with that...

Ebay is the easiest. Just type in "dodge gov spring kit" in a search.

I'd fly out there to go for a thrill ride.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Because 97 and newer non-marine engines are electronic(ISC instead of 6CT). Higher than 300 are the marine engines usually, and they are already a really high power rating. And, 74M already explained the 5 ton's baby pump.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

It's the whole timing case, not really a mod, but swapping parts. It already has the hose in it for external oil feed.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

A colorado with a V8? Way Kool. I had a 97 dodge with similar mods as that guy you raced. It was a lot of fun. To run a Ppump off a dodge isn't too hard. The timing case, pump, lines, and injectors. You could get away with the old lines but they don't quite line up. The timing case can be...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Yes, that is backwards. More fuel is more heat, which can come down with more good air. Good being a decently cool charge. A big problem I've noticed is in the injectors themselves. The pressure is so low they basically inject like a pee stream, not a fine mist. That's just one of the variables...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

There are many different marine injectors for an 8.3, and I believe the people posting that were referring to a 5.9 with the 370 marine injectors. I have seen 5 or 6 part numbers for 450-480 injectors for an 8.3. Of course, the best ones cost the most. I just don't have exact spec for them...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

It wasn't a required thing, it just made it easier to do. The 14mm nut fits pretty tight, so it is actually faster to back out the 10mm, then back out the 14 to meet it. The socket was a gift from a 5 ton owner with a lathe.

Adding the video for the full fuel adjustment nuts. Just to add to the 43 pages on this thread. https://youtu.be/e3InnotLRAE

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

#1, 270hp/700tq. Last one I killed was the converter slipping, but was making a little more than that spec. Internal clutch slippage also can happen. With the torque curve moved up in the rpm (timing advanced), then there is less low rpm torque damage. 3. The turbo is good. HX40 can take a good...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Depends on the tuning you're talking about. The screw on top will have a little less effect, and the AFC adjustments shouldnt need anything.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

If you watch the pyrometer you can get the hang of how long you can keep your foot in it. It's still risky, even if you don't mess with the pump adjustments. The marine injectors are big, and I don't have the hole size specs besides they are 5 hole and for a 480 hp 8.3. That's 480 with a 12mm...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Yes, go with bigger injectors if you aren't satisfied with the freebie adjustment, or you want to start with big power. just adding marine injectors will get some pretty good gains if you don't want to mess with the pump.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

It wasn't posted here, I don't believe. The owner of the 923 that I took the videos of (many pages back on this thread) is the one that did the testing. I don't have access to one here to play with and experiment on. My concept is to use a bigger intake tube, and use a big rig filter and housing.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

The air filter tests have been done. The conclusion was the size of the air filter (needs more surface area). I can't afford to give out a set of those. I barely break even when I do sell em. Differences in power: upping the fuel adjustment, about 270hp. Adding marine injectors on no pump...

I'm the one that needs sponsors so I can buy a 900 series.
