Any help you can provide will be appreciated. I was given a photo of my deuce before it was repainted by the previous owner. I would like to order some stencils from Rick Larsen to repaint the bumper numbers. The problem is that I don't know if the vertical lines are letters or numbers on the left side of the bumper ( "I" or "1"). I've attached a couple photos.

The information on the data plate included the following:
stock # 2320-00-077-1616
ID # 77K1493 0625-12602

The gentleman I purchased the truck from said he believed it to be a Marine vehicle.

IM willing to bet it came From Shaw airforce base its only 2 hours from spartanburg SC

Actually at that time, the USAF used the year of mfg, a K (for tactical utility vehicle), and the unique reg num as their means of assigning reg nums. The Army would not have used that method at that time.

Ill take the year and manafacturer for that then. Odds are that someone put a regular bed on this one when it was rebuilt. The paperwork mustve slipped through the cracks somewhere. Here are the numbers again:

The 1Q number you gave is not a serial number. That number is a frame rail lot stamp. Need to look further back and possibly scrap off some paint to find it.

If the GL numbers are correct, here is the info.

thanks carnac - looks like it belonged to some long range surveillance paratroopers. the paints not pretty but they took good care of it under the hood.
