I had complaints about my two VW buses (they are old VW vans). Because I did not drive them often enough they said they where being stored. I pointed out the registration and inspection but was told they only applied to the street not my driveway. So I parked them on the street. When the complaint came I just pointed to the registration and that I pay to use the public roadway. I have to move them every other day or so. I just think it is great whoever did not like them in the driveway can drive around them now! So I bet you can park on the street just check for time restrictions for street parking. When he complains just tell him that you prefer to park in the driveway put someone complained and now you are forced to park in the street. I was planning to sell one of my VW's but I will keep just to park legal in the street.

Sometimes you have to weigh your options. It sucks, but you DO have to choose your battles now-a-days. I think you will be much happier at your new location. Sorry to hear of this.

Funny this came up, I had a conversation with the lady across the street. She thinks that she owns the block, well during our conversation in which I was trying to be nice, it was brought up that she thought that the house next to me, which has been empty for over a year, wouldn't sell because of my MVs in the driveway.

I told her that I didn't mind that the house was empty and that I was just waiting for the price to drop lower on it so I could buy it, doze the house down and build a shop on it so I could park them there. LOL

She was concerned that I was going to buy some more MVs. Well I'm always looking for the next good deal..

My neighbor called code enforcement on me before I could get my duece tagged. It was parked out of the way, off the street in the back. I had to move it out of town for a few weeks until the tags came. I now park it as close as I can get it beside her car in a shared driveway. I was gonna play nice and keep it parked out back and out of sight. But, of course you know, this means war.

Sure would be nice if your buds from the Fire Dept. just happened to need to park a pumper or ladder truck in front of his house for a while with the detroit on high idle for a hour or two every so often. Just remember it works both ways. Depending on laws and codes, does he mow or blow grass or leaves in the street, littering. Does he have a riding mower that ever hits the street, operating a unregistered vehicle on city / county streets. Just food for thought.

I too was forced out of my community because my MV hobby was just too different. I am a full time NG Technician and I use my MVs to haul the veterans through the local parades. They still used the junk and abandoned vehicle policy against me. I even started and drove the trucks to prove they are not junk. They are even licensed and titles, but I eventually moved them out of town in fear of broken windows and vandilism. I purchased a new facility on the edge of town where they can't touch me anymore!!!! I have about 15 trucks parked out there and needless to say people are a little intimidated by my fleet. I feel your pain man and I hope you have better luck than I did.

When I read these posts, I am stunned at the small-minded people out there. I guess their lives are so insignificant, they feel they have to do things such as complain about their neighbor's vehicles. I am sympathetic to your plight, but I am also very happy with my decision to move to the country a few years ago.

No offense to your town as I spent many summer days of my youth there....

but it, like most small towns in the midwest, is a dying POS with zero chance of pulling out of it's downward spiral.

This is the same town that didn't want to bring in any industry (well before yours and my time). If it weren't for Broin, it would already be dead.

We are thinking along the same lines. Although my neighbors have been very good about my new hobby, most think it is interesting, the wife and I have been thinking about moving to a location that is more suitable to our interests. Something in a rural area with say 10+ acres and where the local assessor doesn't think my last name is Morgan or Vanderbilt.

I have a friend that lives off College Pkwy in one of the townhome developments. Can't do any vehicle maintanance, paint you house doors any other color but the three approved colors. No flowers in front of you house, no sheds, no fences. Almost Nazi Germany.

I have less than two years and I'm out of the Peoples Republic of Maryland. Southwest Virginia here I come.

If you have the money for 10 acres in MD, you are doing very well, very well indeed.
